Title: 85 T-Bird TC brake questions again (long)
Post by: Uncleford on October 08, 2007, 08:57:18 PM
Okay, who has an 85 TC and completed the SN-95 rear disk brake upgrade? I have read until I have a pounding headache about the parts that work and what I will need and I am still confused. Mostly because I am not looking at it.

My situation. Installed SN-95 rear brakes and already have 92(ish) mustang front brakes and calipers. Car is not running at this time.

I can get a 98 mustang V-6 brake booster, master cylinder and (stock) proportioning valve. The lines are cut but threaded plugs are in place.  I have ordered the Summit adjustable  style prop valve.

Is it right when I am thinking that can get rid of my prop valve and use the one from the 98? Also I will still need to buy the 3-2 prop valve kit from Bobbitt  to make this work? Looking at my stock prop valve on my 85 I think I had like 5 hard lines going out of it? Whats the deal with all of these?

How do I connect the hard lines in the back to the SN-95 soft lines of the SN-95 rear calipers?

I know this has probably been covered extensively in the past but I have been reading too much and am surely making this harder than it is. I really appreciate any input taking a step closer to getting the brakes squared away once and for all. I am finishing the build on my new 306/YS trim/carb/TKO set up this week and want to finish the brakes before I put the engine in. Thanks.....

Okay, I will ask this. Where can I get the PV plug (m2450)? Both of my dealerships around here couldn't find the part I needed. They told me they could sell me the entire pv for $121.00. I also tried Matt90GT and Summit. Matt said he didn't resale any FMS products and Summit has them on back order till 27 Oct. Anyone else?

Go to www.50resto.com (http://"www.50resto.com") and look up plug, proportioning valve. It sells for $17.95.

Do what thundr306 did, check his post in users rides.
He tee'd the front brakes right from the MC,used the ajustable prop valve to the rear.Eliminating the stock prop valve.

Okay thanks, that btw doesn't look too bad. Hmmm. There was a someone a while back (I thought Gumby) doing a swap. He had pics of the car up on stands and showing progress throughout the build up but I couldn't find it anywhere.....

Slicksport88. Thanks for the link. I wound up getting one from Jegs. They matched the price of Summit but I ended up getting screwed on shipping. It was like $12, I was too tired to argue so I said just do it.
