I was wondering what transmissions fellow board members are running, what are your shift points are manual and automatic?
My aod was shifting 1-2 at 5000 2-3 at 4800, holds 3rd till I let off.
Doing the 1,2,1 shuffle reved higher but didn't help et's
Thanks,
Mike
AOD, TransGo shift kit with Hi-rev governor, hardened input shaft and "A"servo. Shifts between 5900-6100 RPM depending on the outside temp (yes, it does make a difference!)
It might not have helped the overall if your other run was a good launch and the 1-d-1 run wasn't. Can you post times dowm the track at 60', 330' and so on?
I found with my t-bird (AOD with B&M shift kit) that doing the old slingshot off the convertor provided the best launches and I shifted 1st to 2nd at 4700-4800 and held 2nd until around 5000-5100 rpm...holding 1st gear any longer slowed me down and letting the car shift into 3rd any earlier resulted in slightly higher trap speeds but slower ET's...I've made enough runs on the car to know it was not a fluke either.
Keep in mind this was with a stone stock HO with f/l headers and timing advanced...not much else.
My 88 cougar.. a T-5 and I shift when the valves float.
Turbo 400 and I shift at 5,200.
I know you don't care.

lol!
take that bitch to the dyno, and find out where power starts falling off. that's when you want to shift.
its a 3.8....what power? :flip:
Gumby's right, its a 3.8.. I shift it that high because I like the sound it makes.. :nuckin futs:
You have that aod shifting good. The blower failed on my car and there are no new times to post yet. The cam needs to be degreed or at least set straight up. The brake booster and all vacuum lines need to be repaired as well. Hopefully that will give the map something better to work with. Until the blower can be repaired and installed, the next times might be na.
Thanks for all the advise.
Mike
What rpm were you stalling at launch with the foot brake?

thats what you thought my car was doing :rollin:
it was'nt my lifters floating after 1.2 seconds!!! :flip:
opps i guess i did'nt answer the question .MSD 6AL chiped at 6000 RPMS.T5..
You don't have to worry about me, I'm not a big Ford purist. Heck, I really admire what GM did with the interchangability of old school small block Chevy's. A huge caddy motor! That is so cool. Cubesrule
Damm Nick you still got that t-5 in that beast. What did you make a deal with the devil  to make it last so long.. :D
oh my 96 LSC shifts at 6200 stock on a 4R70W
I wasn't footbrake stalling the convertor...the car didn't seem to 60' that well if I did it that way...that's why I would slingshot off of the convertor.
