86 5.0 ls. Every now and then when I step on the pedal the car is not responding like on the highway i have my foot on the pedal. in my mind I doing 60+ but she will do 45 to 48. then after a min or less it will do what the pedal is position to do. or if I/m doing 50+ it will drop down to 40 to 48mph. But this is not all the time but quite fequently. I'm thinking I need to spray the hinge on the butterfly with wd-40 but what do you guys think? :dunno:
Stretched throttle cable is possable, or loose somewhere. Go about and check all things that can cause it. Mine turned out to be the cable was WAY streched
If you can actually press the pedal and don't feel any abnormal stiffness the throttle butterfly is moving fine. Could be TPS, or could even be an out-of-adjustment TV cable (tranny not shifting down like it should)
i think its the TV cable, too.
so you think i need to replace the throttle cable?
TV, trans kickdown cable. Very well could be it. They are pr0ne to be messed up on 5.0 EFI's IIRC. If it's not adjusted teh car will feel slugish and underpowered. It will cause teh trans to not kick down also
It will also cause the tranny to cook itself. Check it out!
