We had THREE members go drag racing so far this weekend! The Top 25 now has 17 overall people in it and a new #1 in the TC class. Keep em coming guys! :beatyoass: :birdsmily: :cougarsmily:
Ive been knocked out of number 1 in the turbo list :/
I WANT to get up there so bad but I just cant afford the gas right now...$3.30+ for premium at the moment its just freaking nuts!
$3.60 for 91 octane here already. :(
HOLY shiznit, its average like 276 around here for reg.
3.18 here for cheap shiznit
3.17 for E85... wtf?
E85 is a joke, itll have to be about 75% the price of regular gas to even make me think about it.
Theres a station up this way that sells it for 10 cents less than regular. I dont think they sell much if any.
My local drag strip is already sold & going to be closed down in short order. Kinda depressing considering I don't even know where the next closest one is at. At least this one was only about 5 miles away (close enough to hear the cars on top fuel nights, though). Meh.
This is the closest strip to me. Really only 1/8 mile but they have 1/4 mile times on the timeslip too. I want to get out there sometime hopefully this year. I have been out as a spectator a couple times.

Down at the bottom of that dip are the 1/4 mile beams.
And if anybody here has a couple million dollars to spare the track is for sale.
Your location says NE Ohio, I assume you are near Thompson Raceway? I will be up there in late may to race with UMTR. You could also drop down toward Sunset Dragway (birthplace of bracket racing). That place is a throwback, no 60' clocks and 1/8th mile racing in what feels like a cornfield :D
Based on your location, i assume that Quaker City? The rumor mill is cranking that they have a group ready to pul lthe trigger, but they are soliciting serious investors for operating cash???

I heard Quaker is already sold, signed, and payed for. Some investment group for condos or some BS.
PIR had a NASTY auto-cross crash a few weeks ago. 100% the race stewards fault (SCCA volunteer) but the track was taking heat (4 totaled cars including a Porsche GT3). City Council stepped up and said no way is the track leaving, it makes WAAAYYY too much money (City of Portland ows the track). PIR is how a track SHOULD be run, period.
No, I am a few hours away from quaker city.
I was talking about Lucky Drag City (http://"http://www.luckydragcity.com/index.html") in Wattsburg, PA. Its about 20-30 mins from Erie,PA.
I thought quaker city was already sold and going to be turned into an industrial park or something. Atleast thats what i thought I read in a post that coolcats posted a few months ago.
EDIT:I guess they aren't gone yet.

This has been posted on a few local forums, I have no idea how valid it is, but its got a real buzz going.
Over the last few days QCR has been approached by a group of racers looking to purchase Quaker City Raceway. This is great news for the racers in the area but there is still a ways to go before racing can resume at QCR. The group has serious investment behind them but more investment is required. Would you like to own a piece of Quaker City Raceway? On May 8th @ 7:30 pm a meeting will be held at the dragstrip for SERIOUS INVESTORS ONLY so come along and help preserve a racing heritage. Pending the outcome of the meeting, the track may be open soon.
Interested Investors May Contact Mark Mazzant from 9--5 @ 1-724-752-8687.
Like I said, I know none of these folks, and thankfully my home track is relatively safe right now. They are actually expanding trying to get a true IHRA national event, they already have a pro-am event, and now have the barcket finals this year. We are never safe from this kind of stuff, but spending big money on expansion seems to be a good sign. On QC, if you've ever been there, I'm not sure why they would build condo's or whatever, its not like its a suburban haven or something.

That is the same as what is on the Quaker City website.
I found what i thought i read. I was wrong it wasnt Eric it was Ifixyawata (http://"http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showpost.php?p=132055&postcount=69") in the Cat Jam 2007 thread and it wasn't anything official just a statement from him.
2 years ago we inquired about buying our local track.
1/8 th mile....nice track...wanted $ 880,000 for it. I couldn't find a partner.
Me and my family would have had to live at the track tho and I would have to cash in my 401K. pretty risky these days.
The owner wants 2.2 Million I think thats a stretch from what i have seen when i was there. It is basically a field with 2 buildings on it and the strip. There was a water shortage last time i was there. If someone bought it and updated it, it would be a nice place to race. Here (http://"http://www.goerie.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060804/SPORTS1206/608040453&SearchID=73280272946067") is an article about him not wanting to sell it for 1.5 Million and the buyers comparison of other tracks he could get in better shape for cheaper.
QCR is the one that's a few miles from my house. The message on thier site has changed since I posted about it earlier.
2 more went, Top 19 now!! Good job guys!
