im finally gonna try and get some things done to my car to make it faster, the small stuff i have done isnt cutting it anymore. i plan on getting a whole new cat-less h-pipe exhaust system, but i also wanna get underive pulleys and bypass the airpump. after looking at old threads i read that i need a 93in. belt if i only bypass the pump. would the new underive pulleys make a difference in length? if so does anybody run these and can tell me the length i need?

also, i figure i might as well go ahead and do everything i want and can afford all at once, cus theres no telling when im gonna be motivated enough to do this again. does anyone know if an intake spacer is worth the money and time? i already have a HO intake and tb, would this help? its not expensive, but i dont think i'd get much from it, idk if anyone thinks its worht the effort.

anyother cheap, easy mods i havent done already that you all can think of would also be appritiated
thanks,
Keith
I just did exactly that. Ford Racing underdrive pulley kit and smog pump bypass. Made several trips to AutoZone before I got a belt that fit right. I don't remember what length the belt is and it's not maked on the cardboard wrapper. What I got is a Duralast #760K6 belt.
that would be a seventysix point zero inch six rib serpentine belt.
intel built into the part number,,,:D
It won't be 93" way to big.76" sounds about right.
How 'bout that! There are still companies that do things that make sense? Whoda thunk it?
I suspected that was the case but I didn't want to give out wrong information if it wasn't. The part number I knew. :)
I deleted a/c and air pump by turning the tensoner about 30 degrees counter clockwise and drilling another mount hole in the bracket to mount it. thenn I built my own idler off spare bracekt peices form a/c and smog to come up with alternator/waterpump/powersteering combo. and my belt is 80 7/8"
so i need a 76'' belt. cool, i wasnt sure how much the pulleys differed overall lenghts from the stocks. thanks again. nobody really mentioned it, so i figure that spacer is unnesesary?
Or if you want a gates brand belt the part number would be K060760.
and here we have another "style" part number.
K-likely a gates vendor or branch supplier (mexico or usa-yes there is a minor difference in thier style especially with the mexico belt, it is made much better than the usa belts)
06- six rib (two digits reserved for ribs that exceed 9)
0760 - 76'' belt (enough digits reserved so that there could be a possiblity of a 999.9 inch belt) the last zero would be reserved for increments less than one inch.
each supplier sort of flips around where they put the qty of ribs and the inches, you just gotta stare at the number to figure it out. same goes for the v belts, there is a pattern to them.
now test time,,,lol
what belt is this one?
k141125
14 rib 112.5"
You probably wont notice anything from the spacer.
Put an electric fan on it, that helps too.
whats a good car to take an electric fan off of? would wiring it be hard?
google.com
idk if im gonna go electric fan. but i think ill try the 3g altenator upgrade? which cars came with this? and more importantly, which one bolts the most easily up to a SO 5.0?
since you have a burgandy cougar,,,,:D here's all the leg work done for special you and spoon feed with all the love you could expect from such a wonderful site...http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/search.php?searchid=211858
but,,,,,,,,,
as a warning:evilgrin:
I got a gates belt on mine after i got the BBK underdrive pulleys had no probelms with it so far.
ok, sorry to open up such an old thread, but i figure its not worth starting a new one.... that 76'' belt you purchased you said fit fine, well im halfway done my exhaust, and when i go to remove the air pump and put on this new belt, is about 2 inches too short. now, the underdrive pulleys havent come in yet, so i was gonna bypass the pump and put the pulleys on later when they come. but my question is, will the pulleys make up for that 2 or so inches difference? i can run the pump and just not pump into the exhaust till the pulleys come if i have to. it just seems that almost 2 inches is alot of difference. but i also dont want to return the belt, and find out when the pulleys come that this would would fit fine.
sorry for all the trouble by the way
