May be kinda stupid to ask here, but I would like some impartial input :)
I'm having Panther37 make me some gauge faces and I've got the design about 98% finalized...I just have to decide which font I want.
I've attached a PDF below, it has 3 pages, but the designs on page 1 and 3 are the ones I'm trying to decide between. Set #1 are made to be Autometer Phantom lookalikes, and I was trying to get the 3rd set to look as close to the Autometer C2's as possible (not exact, but really close).
What do you guys think? I like the Phantom lookalikes because they match the other gauges in my car...but the font on the C2-style ones is a lot cooler looking. I can't decide :dunno:
I like them in this order: Page 2, Page 3, Page 1
Page 3 looks cool. And why aren't you making 140mph ones?
Beeeecause I don't have a 140 speedo? Would be a pretty good reason.
I wanted to take page 2 out, I don't really care for that font so much. That one's not even in the running.
edit: BTW, I should note that I am not saying these are MY designs- I just told Panther37 what I wanted and he made them up for me. I'm just saying that these are pretty much the final drafts of what they're probably gonna look like.
You knew about this (http://"http://www.coolcats.net/tech/advanced/140speedo.html"), right?
Or you is it you like the 85mph one?
I'd say, more or less, what's the point of doing that, when you know it's only accurate at 45+mph? Not much of a speedo then is it?
Yea, i guess if you don't calibrate it, it probably won't be that accurate.
There's a good article here (http://"http://www.turbotbird.com/techinfo/techarticles.html")
And if you don't want to mess with it, here (http://"http://natomessageboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=015141#000005") is a guy that will do it for a small fee.
I think I'd rather have a speedo that read correctly below 40 mph than one that went to 140.
, $75 to convert and calibrate the speedo? No thanks. 100 mph is fine with me.
The only problem I see with 'em is the "volt" gauge. These cars don't have a volt gauge, they have an ammeter (that rarely works). If you try to use a Mustang gauge in your cluster the sweep will be backward
I like 3, 2, 1, in that order.
I'd like a 140 speedo but I don't want it to be off like that either.
I actually don't like any of them. Every time I see white face gauges surrounded by black trim I can't ever convince myself to like it.
Mustang gauge?
My ammeter hasn't moved since I've had this car anyway so I'm not worried about it. I have an Autometer voltmeter in the car anyway.
As far as white face guages surrounded by black trim...I have a brushed stainless bezel on the cluster.
Yes, Mustang gauge. later Mustangs had a volt meter instead of an ammeter, but it was on the left hand side of the cluster. If you moved it to the right side of your T-Bird cluster you'd have to rotate it 180 degrees, meaning that it's upside down. As the voltage goes up, the needle goes down. Of course, it'd have to be modified to fit the T-Bird cluster anyway. I figured you may have done (or been planning to do) such a thing when I saw that you had a voltage gauge in those pics.
That's kinda my point :hick: Though since you've got an ammeter why not have the gauge faces made up to reflect that, instead of voltage readings that aren't really voltage readings? :D
I've got one of those too. It kicks ass
Fire and Ice Motorsports, right? Yep, it's cool to know that somebody makes bezels for us, and they're not expensive.
Anyway, I didn't even pay attention to the fact that he had kinda turned that into a voltmeter....:dunno:
i like erics custom autometer set up better then any gauge faces but if i had to pick get number one
They all look basically the same to me. and im with Claude i dont really like any of em.but its not about what we like my friend its what you like your the one who will have to look at it every day.
1-3-1 But I agree with the others below,I'm not a great fan of the white faces gauges, it look like a ricer car, cool, but look ricer anyway, I keep all of My best to keep the "black faced" in My bird dash, and I just found a month ago (or around) a black faced Clarion CD/MP3 to replace My existing Clarion (honda 200?) CD only black faced radio...
The only thing I'll made, If I made is change the green stock look of the cluster/heater/clock, to a soft blue, and I'm very not sure to do this,I like the stock face of the dash of My Bird...
My opinion,
Have a nice Day,
Dom.
Are these gauge faces backlit on the numbers or are they black? Also Eric, for the 140 mph conversion, what are you sagest to price on for the overlays?
Actually these will be blue indiglo gauges.
