I can either make this a really long story or a really short one. For the sake of you guys, here's the short story:

To sum this guy up, here is what I know about him:
- His mom was a coworker of mine and she got fired for backstabbing everyone that worked there.
- He got this girl fired from her work by cussing in the middle of the store, talking trash about everyone that worked there. She had previously been told to keep him out of the store for obvious reasons.
- He got caught drawing pics of nude women on the walls of his [ex] place of work. He got fired from his work as a result of the previous event.
- He's on trial for manslaughter, and from the looks of the case, is probably going to jail.
And trust me, this isnt even 1/4th of the whole story. If you guys would like the whole story, I'd be happy to share it, but there's a lot involved.
Would someone like to explain to me how this guy could ever make a good boyfriend/father/role model/etc? I just fail to see the logic here.
Some girls really know how to pick a winner, that's all I can say.
I dealt with that numerous times, finally met a girl that is a sweetheart and treats me great. AND she recognized what a good guy I am (finally!).
I guess you just gotta give it time and/or multiple tries.

Here I am, 18 years old, and Ive been: dumped for another GIRL, dumped for a 47 year old, and now I lose out to a murderer? I guess the next girl I come across is gonna dump me for her cousin or somethin. Every time I think I've seen the worst, something comes along to take the throne.

Oh believe me, there is a lot to not understand.
This girl I knew was led around by some guy who eventually cleared out her bank account and downright lied to her as she eventually found he was a drug dealer.
The girl and I had known eachother, liked eachother and were starting to date. One day while I was at work, I called her and she sounded completely different. Apparently, that day, she was at the mall and met some random guy and she went straight to him. Kicked me clear to the curb. Every once in a while I hear how he is an ass and she isn't happy but hey, it was her decision and it's not my fault it was the wrong one.
Don't feel too bad though, you're only 18. I'm going on 22 and still can't catch a break. I'm the typical nice guy whos a great friend. I wish I had a dollar every time I've heard that.
Man, trust me, I've been there and done that a million times already myself. The girl I'm talkin about in topic topic told me the same thing. "I see you more as a good friend right now." Can you say, "Story of my life" ?
Been there too, sorta (my last ex) and yeah it does suck. I've run the gauntlet myself, been dumped for exes, best friends, etc.
I'm 26, my new girlfriend (we've actually only been "exclusive" for about 2 or 3 weeks now) is 29, and it's working very well. Being that she is older she is more mature than younger girls and knows what she wants. And she's a lawyer which can always be useful ;)

Not that I think you're gonna listen to an old guy :fart: but you young'uns are working on a bad assumption here. MOST women are not looking for a nice/good guy. They're more attracted to men that treat them like dirt. What would they want with a man that isn't "exciting" and gives them no reason to bitch about him to their girlfriends? :slap:
You want a woman that really is looking for a nice guy (not just saying she is) you have to have a lot of patience, they're few and far between. Good news is that if you do find one she's usually got her head on pretty straight and if she decides you're the one you're done looking. I know it's an alien word to guys your age but patience is required, they're out there but tough to get a shot at.
Even from my short lifespan, my experiences have lead me to that conclusion. Just before the end of last semester, a friend and I were jokin around like "Wow, we should go walkin through the mall acting like asses! We'd get tons of chicks! It's like they enjoy going home and getting slugged in the face or somethin."
I clearly see that as well, but I don't understand the extreme cases (beatings, constant harassment etc.)
I am in no way an ass when I initially meet a woman. It takes me a little while to get to know her before I learn how to push her buttons and then I can be an ass from time to time (for fun, not to hurt her in any way). It's just that I'm not being given an initial chance that me off. I'm not going to walk up and punch some girl I like to prove that I can be an ass to get her to date me.

The night I went out with that girl was my first ever glimpse at "having a chance." Apparently, being a gentlemen wasnt what she was lookin for. Hopes of a chance gone.
I used to be the super nice guy. I got blown off. I started being arrogant, and rather rude, and i started getting more and more.
Ive been with my girl for almost 2 years now (in march), and she was the only one who was attracted to me through regular conversation. Didnt have to be nice, didnt have to be rude, didnt have to look or act a certain way. I got lucky with this one.
Well I dont 'try' to be nice, thats just how I am. Being fake nice is as bad as being an ass.
I used to be a nice guy. I probably was you. But just like Shawn, the final bitch finaly pissed me off. So basicaly I say **** them. I don't care if they like me or not. I have work and other shiznit to deal with and when a girl aproaches me (because I blew her off in the first place) I tell her "not interested" and what happens? She calls me non stop with stupid conversations and telling me about other men in my life that I could give a less about. I simply tell her "bye not interested, I have a date with Windows 2003". This them off and they try and retaliate with some kind of stupid "your an idiot" comment.
What this all boils down too? I get laid whenever I want by these stupid ws that think that I actualy want to have something to do with them. I reassure myself I hate them everytime I see them at speedway the next day behind the counter. Most young women are stupid ws. The only girls that I like and want anything to do with are all over 27. It amazes me every time I see one of these local girls. It knocks me back a couple years and I feal nice and young again. Not the ****ing asshole of a 21 year old I am.

I did have one girl this past semester who I really liked and I'm positive she liked me as well. She'd probably be mine now if she wasn't in a relationship. That is another problem in itself... finding a decent single girl.
I find decent single girls all the time. There in there mid 20's have 8 or 10 earings in each ear and black makeup. They played out there bad guy love years ago and now are trying to make up for it. There the kind to love you and cook you dinner.
Haven't had a date in 7 years , maybe i should become an asshole, I shall try this. Mostly i was paying more attention to passing in High School than any girl.
Yeah, there was a girl last semester that I got to talkin to and she's basically the physical embodiment of everything I could want in a girl, and I'm quite sure that she liked me as well because she eventually moved seats to sit right next to me. Unfortunately, she was taken. Ugh.
@CougarSE: Yeah, there's a girl similar to that that I know (w/out the piercings though and normally pink makeup with dark hair...pretty nice lookin) and I think she likes me...even my friends that have seen how she acts around me say the same thing. I'm tryin to play it kinda cool though.

Well the girl I know isnt 'goth'. She has dark black hair and normally has a very small bit of black makeup around her eyes (but they arent overdone and dont look like huge rings of makeup) and wears pink lipstick, which makes a nice looking contrast. She doesnt wear a lot of dark clothing either. But unlike the girl in my original post who's on the downhill slide, this girl is on her way back up.
I didnt read all the post yet but the first page alone is the conversation i have weekly. but all my buddies and me just have one answer to all the questions we have.....

im goin on 22.. and i have a good eye of finding good girls. the only thing is, they end up finding a boyfriend before i get a chance, and then they stay with that boyfriend for years (know like 10 girls like that right now) and im talkin to one thats a little over 2 hours away, just out of highschool, and i'll bet on her finding a bf before i get the chance. i gave up long ago. prolly why my luck is so morbid when it comes to getting a good girl. sure i could chase girls around, like this one girl in my class. hell he's going to NASCAR TECHNICAL INSTETUTE. so you know she's into cars. that and she works at hooters (so you know she's hot and charasmatic) BUT, in a class of 26, there are 24 guys. the other girl is a military wife. so yeh, the hooters girl, has my number (yes i gave it to her, and not got her's b/c if 20+ guys are hitting on her, why even try?) i could possibly win her over with the good guy shiznit, but how many guys ACT like good guys. as you all know us good guys are counterfitted on a daily basis and win the girl on OUR virtues. so yeh, im just focused on school and work, work and school.

Yeah it is. I've done something like that since high school and I've never been dateless for more than a few weeks. It sad but true. If you're nice you'll never get a date. Women like strong (at least they appear to be) guys who will *protect* them. Or as the article states they like a challenge. If you are really nice you look desperate which is not attractive. Women aren't as appearance focused as men either. You can look like and still get a hot date. I kid you not I've done it. I never ask for a phone number either. If I've done my job right they'll give it to me. I used this to get me a great girl and we've been going out for almost a year now. As long as she dosen't read this I'll be fine :D .

Got really close a few times, then she ends up with a boyfriend, even though she says she wants to go out with me. So now Im working on it again, and if it doesnt work this time, so be it. She knows how I feel, she just keeps trying to delay anything actually happening.

When I was in my 20's I dated women in their 30's because women my age played too many games (and wouldn't go out with me). The older women knew the they were attracted to in their 20's was truly and figured it was better to go out with a nice guy. We were both happy.... until I realized when I was 40 she would be 50.
So I got married in my 30's to someone in her 30's. That was a good deal.
There are women who don't play games and have their heads screwed on straight. The ones that don't do you the favor of not going out with anyone by losers. It's really win/win if you think about it.

Looking at those facts I have in the original post leads me to think of him as more of an idiot. well all I can say is I know plenty of 35-45 year old women who married some badass guy thinking he was cool. These women now work 12 hour days or 2 jobs. Come home to an unemplyed, drunk, or both husband who beats or verbally abuses them. They do not leave for their kids sake but are miserable. I know over 10 women in just this situation maybe you can find solice in this fact.
there are tons of women out there just keep looking til you get one you like who appreciates you and you share the same things.
