Me and my buddy were contemplating somthing tonight, of all nights...
ive got a junk amp for my guitar laying around... and I was wondering if I coulc rig up the input jacks from the old amp to run through RCA wire so my and my buddy could play our basses in the parkinglot or whenever we feel like it.. you know?
2 jacks, L & R rca inlet 1 jack per inlet.
ive got 2 12's layin around... and i can get an amp cheep.. you think the amp would pick up the message from the bass enough to recollect what note I was playing? and produce sound?
Its a hair brained idea... and if you help me get it to work... I'll let ya play your guitar through it at CJ :D

Cost ya like $40 or somrthing, My gf has one, works fine to playin around.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's pretty much the same concept I have set up in the xr7. I have my entire sound system hooked up to a 1/8" jack. I set it up like that for when I put the Mac Mini computer in there. now I use an iPod or any other music player that takes the 1/8" jack.
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't pick up the message from the bass. Amps are designed to pick up low frequencies to output them to subs.
The VW Beetle now has that as an option - in fact, it includes the guitar. VW appears to be trying to get back to its hippie roots :hick:
The VW was part of a surfing theme, IIRC. Any aux input will accept a guitar, or bass, or anything else that can make a noise, but the volume levels will be tough to deal with. May have to use a 1/4" jack to 1/8" or RCA adapter cable. I remember plugging my guitar into my buddy's dads home stereo back in the 80's and got a real dirty Boston like tone. Same thing in a sense.

worked without a hitch guys, now i can build a switchplate and buy a cheapo amp and hook it all up nice and kosher and rock out whenever i feel like it..
Actually i did something like that one time. Some guys had and acoustic guitar, a bass, and another thing idontknowhowiscalled but is like a battery. They wanted to play but obviosly they didnt carry their amplifiers at that time. I said "well, if you have RCA adapters you can connect all to my truck" . I have a sony 222 and a 444 right now. The guy with the guitar connected it to the 222 (powering my four speakers), the guy with the bass used one of the 444 (powering one subwoofer) and the other used the other subwoofer outpot. Needless to say, it was a time when my sound system really, really rocked....
Or metal. They have the guy form Spinal Tap in one of the comercials :headbang:
