Title: gas mileage???
Post by: Master_xzavior on January 06, 2005, 10:04:23 PM
anyone know what the normal gas mileage is for a 87 tbird with a 3.8 in it?? it seemed like we went forever on a tank of gas before we swapped rearends. now it seems like we stop 6 times a week at the gas station. the econometer in my dash says Im getting like 16-18 MPG average on the highway not in town in town it drops to like 13-15 MPG. Is this normal?Seems way low to me.
Thanks ahead of time,
Dan

well I hope its that simple cant afford anything major on it. my cougar parts car has the same rear in it my tbird had before I changed it. which to make a long story short I changed it because the old one messed up. not sure what gears we went to but it feels like theres alot more power to the car which is sad for a 3.8 they dont feel like they have alot of power anyway. but I found I have the passenger side axle seal leaking fluid into my brake. seeing as how I have to pull the axle out to change that I may just swap for the rear end that was in it to begin with maybe it'll help some. hopefully all this thing needs is a good tune up not sure though its got like 213K miles on it. need to get the 302 rebuilt and put in.

My car:
Burns like 1/8 gallon on start up, I think there may be a fuel leak or something...
I burn 1/6 tank driving 20 miles.
But hopefully replacing all my plugs will up my milage, just need to repair my exhaust.
