Title: 87 Cougar XR7 308 S/C 460 RWHP
Post by: GrowlXR7 on September 19, 2006, 10:48:30 PM
I'm new to this website, but not new to owning a Cougar..... I've owned this baby since 1994 and built it up from the ground.....  Currently I'm making 460 RWHP and 420 ft. lbs of torque at the wheels in an auto.... I made 501, but my techs tuned it down not to blow up the trans..... A TKO 600 is going in during the winter....

Thanks

Welcome aboard, that thing is ultra nice. With that kind of RWHP I would have to guess that there's some aluminum heads and a cam lurking down there.

If the AC works I'm really gonna be jealous!

Thanks Dogcharmer !! You guessed right.... Trick Flow heads, Trick Flow Stg. 1 cam, 42 lb. inj. S-Trim, power pipe,,,, the list could go on for awhile.... And yes the A/C works beautiful... I just replaced all the lines and converted it to 134a... Ice cold..

Yes they are the stock motor mounts, in the past year I only busted one.... I can't seem to find anyone that makes solid or poly mounts....The only thing that saves me is that they are safety mounts.... I always have a few sets on hand....LOL !!!

My best time so far on 26 x 10.5 Mickey Thompson Street ET's was 11.85@ 119..... My trans is what's holding me back,  but I'll take it for now..... I want to be able to hit the lower 11's with the TKO next year... I had a custom chip burned while on the dyno to calibrate exact fuel curves while under boost... This eliminates the need for a boost timing control and the use of the FMU.... It is much more accurate.

Hey,
I have a traction Lock, it's just really weak right now..... It didn't grab on that run, but it usually does.... I'm in the process of doing a locker over the winter.... And yes, in the run that was posted it didn't work and I ran a 12.1 @ 115 with a 1.8    60 ft. time... Not shabby right... I have run in the 11's as mentioned in last post....

thanks
