Title: wont start
Post by: svtbird on October 20, 2004, 11:46:17 AM
I recently installed new plugs and wires in my ho swap i have an 88 sport bird. After that I notice that it would hit the gas and it would hesitate them get a huge kick of power and be normal. the next day i would hit the gas and it would make a loud noise like a backfire. Not at any given moment it will cut off and not cut back on for a couple of hours. At idle the engine would shake tremendlesly then after a while it would calm down. please help wont start at all now

when you repost this at the new site, include a list of mods so we can better understand your setup. Just off the top of my head double check the firing order... Did you do one wire at a time or take them all off. Are you using the HO firing order with HO speed density or mass air computer

Here's some questions for ya

did you just do the HO upgrade?
did it run good before the tune up?
mass air EEC or speed density?
any CEL or codes in EEC?
what plugs did you install?
where is timing set at?
do you have an adjustable fuel pressure reg?

Custom dual exhaust of each header no h pipe straight back with flows. BBK shortie's,intake, under drive pulleys.
Just did the swap using lsc computer. ran good before the tune up. Using mighty plugs and wires that are too long.

Kinda sounds like your timing started to slip and maybe you now broke the timing belt/chain.

got car started ignition control module slipped off. now car has a very lopey idle. And hesitates intermittently. sounds like someone is popping popcorn when i hit the gas?
