Ray, I am thinking the same thing about keeping the original color. This car is waiting on collector plates, and will only be driven in nice weather. In Wisconsin we only get a few good months of nice weather. I want to keep the miles low. I would really like a 5 speed, but then that changes it from original. Maybe I need to look for a high mileage turbo to tune.....My wife would just love that..lol
I have an 87 T-Bird Turbo with 63,000 original miles. Every thing on this car is factory with all the options. It needs new paint and a couple dings fixed. The car is burgundy on red. I would like to keep it original or at least I would like to. I just wonder if changing the color would effect the value seeings how the color wouldn't be original. I know there is a lot of cost to changing the color, but we have 4 vehicles that are red in color. The car has everything I wanted in the turbo, except for the automatic and the paint. As for a change in color it would have to go with the red interior. The only choices I can think of are white or black.
That is nice! I just purchased a 87 Turbo Coupe with 63,000 original miles fully loaded with every option and everything is original. I had a 88 T-Bird in the early 90's and wish I would have kept the car. Now That I'm in my late 40's I needed another one. I told my wife that all I need now is some jeans with patches and a mullet. My 87 is red on red too, wish I could have found something in a different color, but with this low of miles and un-touched I couldn't pass it up. Think I'll put a coat of paint on it this summer (original color) and take it to some shows.
I just bought a 87 turbo coupe the part under the armrest on the door panels were sticky. I though maybe someone tried to clean them with something or spilled something on them, but then the interior is in mint condition. Mine are red. I also posted in the parts forum, because I'm looking for some driver side door panel parts someone must have tried to take them off and broke a bunch of the plastic parts on the door panel.
Anyone know where I might be able to find the driver side panel that the arm rest cushion sits on? I am also looking for the speaker grill, door pocket and the part the door lock switch mounts to. I just purchased a 87 Turbo Coupe and apparently someone didn't know how to take the panels off and must have tried to pull them off, they broke most of the plastic mounts, pulled the door pocket off, broke the speaker grill and broke part of the trim for the door lock switch housing. This car is all original and only has 64,000 miles on it.
