Suspension/Steering / shocks and springs from which mustang?
Thank's for all the replys i have ben really bussy and have not ben on the computer in a while
The car sat for 10 years befor i got my hands on it. The shock where probably shot beforhand i just did not help it by loading tuns of stuff in the back
It is not my daily driver right now (got me a suburban) Ill just end up buying the parts new i used to have a pretty good hookup at my local but they sold out and most of the parts are cheaper new now

Just found out a couple days ago the trans is pretty much shot. Its spewing trans fluid that looks like metal flake red paint so i have more on my plate to get done so..

I used the bird for Grocerys loaded the car with way to much over and over it did not do to well (i do the shopping for my moms daycare)
id like to get new parts but i just cant right now. so i have ben going to the local wrecking yards with no luck.
I used to be able to find tons of tbirds/cougers. But they are all gone now there is a couple of 90s birds i can find and one 94 mustang but the mustang has a bent shock

Well i like the look but if it makes it ride like  ill steer away from it. Its a 85 tbird with the 5.0. the shocks are blown and the springs are  i have just ben trying to find a good junk yard car to get some parts from. I dont want to slam it i like around the way it sits but right now the rear is pretty much on the ground the shocks and springs are so bad.

I like the raked look and was woundering if anyone out there can tell me what mustang to get the front springs for a slight lower ride and what rear springs to sighty raise the rear.
I have ben told the 83-88 mustangs shocks are to long but the 89-95 i think would work but im not sure on the springs to use to get the rake i want.
This is a wrecking yard bird full of wrekcing yard parts

Misc Tech / couple questions about the bird
I have not gotten a ticket in a while. I have ben better about the led foot.
Trying to get my bird to the track but i don't no what needs to be done to my car.
My insurance got to 110$  month its going down slowly but it is still 101$ a month
But if i had to do the high risk insurance from this state its 5 years not 1 so im glad the judge let me go on that one
I did everything they said so they dropped most of the tickets. Still had to pay the fines but most of them did not go on my record :)
I crammed like 5 tickets in one stop. alltho i have had alot of fines and all that i have only ben pulled over twice.
Butt then again i am young and have only ben driving for 5 or so years... seems like nothing now adays

i have had my fair share but never have ben impounded.
My first one was i took the car out for a spin before i got my license the day i got the car. Going way to fast and got pulled. I got license the day after that
lets just say i could have boughten a second bird with the fines ive payed

From what i have come up with i think just a base model 5.0.
Allready got the fuel filter figured out just the repair kit custom siad and made it 6 or so inch's longer and just moved it down
All your guys birds/cougs are so nice i envy all of them mine runs great but the paint is multi color :(

I have got to say for a first car this car has made a huge impression on me i love this car and ill probabbly own more then one in my life time
 but i have got my self in some trouble with it :burnout:

Misc Tech / couple questions about the bird
First thing is i just got tailpipes of a 94 mustang there allready in and fit pretty good but they have the lers aswell and the ler dose not clear the fuel filter. I am trying to relocate the filter but the lines not long enuf for where i want to put it is there a way i can cut and splice or is there a adapter that will make the line about 6 inches longer?
Aswell how do i find out what my car is. Turbo coupe. Elan. Ect?

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / I got the tailpipe in!
I did have 2 jack stands under the rear axle but the way it fell id did not matter it slighty fell towerds the passenger side when i got the car back on its tire it had moved over about a foot. I did have a phone in my pocket tho but that never went threw my head.
I do like what coogarxr said i had the car up again yesterday and put a old rim/tire under the car so it could not fall again
It dose suck having to do this wih my hand but its coming along have one more tail pipe to put in then the h pipe and im done so..

Alltho it sucks i  had this happen when i was jacking the car back up off the ground the sprng fell out (I had pulled the shock to let the axle drop a little more) and then the tailpipe went in no problem with all the suspension out so ill just pull the shock and lower the arm and let the spring fall out for the driver side

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / I got the tailpipe in!
So yesterday i was working on getting a tailpipe with a mufler on it in the passenger side had 2 jackstands and a small floor jack tires chalked and parking brake on
But the floor jacks arm did not reach high enuf so i put a 2x6 on it and i got the clearence i needded but as i got the tailpipe in i noticed the car was coming down
the 2x6 shattered and so i had the rear passenger drum brake land on my chest no one around to help i was stuck i ended up braking my hand while i was lifting it off me it scared the living  out of me i was in panick mode but i ended up gettin it off of me
No broken bones(besides my hand) i feal sore but ill live.
I think my point to posting this is to let people no NOT to use wood to get more clearencec it could have ended for me so please be safe
I no im going to have people give me  about it. I messed up and it could have costed me everything
I just needed to vent

Drivetrain Tech / T-5 out of a 95 mustang
Its funny that you said your mount is bad i just ripped my passenger side mount and the engine hops now one of the meny resons its getting parked
I am trying to find a t-5 but there either way to expensive or gone before i get to them
And my local wrecking yard just closed there doors so i have to find a new one :( loved that yard
My car is the automatic on the column and i do not think theres a hole in the floor for the shifter so i think im going to have to cut it out.
Any advice on the swap what find of headachs did you come across with yours?

So i have a 85 thunderbird with a 302 in it that has a aod. I have a chance to get a t-5 out of a 95 mustang.
Will the 95 t-5 work with my thunderbird if i go to a carb?

Engine Tech / 302/aodwierd noise
I pulled the cover off and checked the bolts to the converter and they checked out ill check the started but the noise is coming from the driverside of the bellhousing so i dont think its the starter
Thanks for not giving me guff i no i messed somthing up but i dont no what.  I do not have alot of experience under my belt but i love working on cars
i put all the bolts/nuts to tourqe specs and used locktight is it possible that the rear main seal is rubbing on the flexplate? or would it be spewing oil if that was it
(its not leaking)
