Drivetrain Tech / Speedo gear for AOD after changing to 3.73:1 rear gear
I have an '87 Thunderbird with a 5.0, AOD, and 7.5 rear end.  I had 3.73 rear gear installed, but not sure how to get the right speedometer gear to make the speedometer accurate again. I guess Ford never put this gear ratio in this car.  Any help would be appreciated.

Suspension/Steering / Quad Shocks for a 7.5"?
Has anyone replaced their original quad shocks with newer shocks? I'm wondering if it would make any difference in handling or launching. I don't know how to see if mine are worn out without taking them off the car. And if I do that, I might as well replace them, right?

Suspension/Steering / Brake master cylinder upgrade?
OK, '93 Cobra brake booster and master cylinder are in the car. I purchased an adapter kit with them that is basically a T with two short brake lines that make life easy when doing the swap. I still had to bend one of my original lines to connect everything, but it wasn't difficult.  My brakes feel so much better than they ever did before! My car really stops faster, just from this upgrade.

And for those that have wondered . . . the Cobra booster is 1 inch narrower around and 1 inch longer, give or take 1/8 of an inch.  The length measurement is from firewall to  for the MC. The designs are different in volume by quite a bit. The Cobra booster has a lot more volume, the T-bird booster has a spacer that decreases the booster internal volume.

Suspension/Steering / Brake master cylinder upgrade?
Wow, this is now a very long thread!
Somewhere in this thread it's probably already been covered, but I can't find it.

Are the connections on a stock 87 Thunderbird Sport master cylinder metric or SAE?
I'm thinking of going with a 93 Cobra booster and master cylinder, wondering about the connections.

Drivetrain Tech / Best shift kit for AOD?
I'm looking for opinions on what is the best shift kit to put in an AOD.
My last one had a B&M shift kit, and it stopped the trans from doing the weird hunting for the right gear shifting.
I now have a factory rebuilt AOD, and am getting tired of the stock shifting habits.
Any opinions on what brand kit is the best for a daily driver?
