Turns out the ground I'm the plug was in the #1 pin and should have been in 18 that fixed it. Just in case it happens to someone else not sure how it happened but it did.
Thanks guys I thought it might be the switch just thought I would pick you guys brains to see if I was missing something I guess I will break out the soldering iron. Thanks 88turbo but I have a few parts laying around to pick through. This is my second cougar I have an 86 with an injected 347 mass air conversion so I am no stranger to wiring.
I have a 1986 cougar with the base cluster the speedometer will only read in kilometers per hour I have changed the module out a few times with no luck so I think its on the vehicle electronics side. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first post on these forums although I have owned a cougar for over 10 years lol.
