Drivetrain Tech / 8.8 rearend disassembly
Got it, but I muscled the bracket off somehow instead from vibration. :D That bolt was ON there. Impacted it off. Now to figure out what these numbers on the gears mean.. I don't see anything I recognise. I'm assuming the code next to the ford logo will indicate what gear ratio it is?

E7TW BA 11 39 6LC  is what it says.

39/11 = 3.55  I see now, I think.

Drivetrain Tech / 8.8 rearend disassembly
Ah, perfect. Yeah, that was my next move and what I was talking about doing. I was just making sure this was a solid move before attempting it and finding out too late afterwards. I'll give it a shot, I just need to find something to cut it with. BTW - that Bernzomatic Quickfire "gun" is an awesome tool. Definitely should've bought it a long time ago.

The fitting is being reluctant to come out at this point. Tried heating up to see if it would budge, but it's not currently. Put some PB Blaster on it for the time being. I tried vicegripping it and turning it, but the vice just slips.. even with a good bite on it.

Drivetrain Tech / 8.8 rearend disassembly
I know it's been awhile, but I still have the rear and I'm trying to turn the gears so I can ensure they're 3.73's.. but I cant because that bolt is still stuck in there with locked brakes. I tried PB Blaster and that didn't do anything. I bought a MAPP torch today and lit it up. Still nothing. Is there a way I can get the brakeline fitting out so I can impact it? It's torn off anyways, so I imagine there's some way to get it out. This is the most ridiculous bolt placement I've ever had to mess with.

Nice Camaro...  but I want your TC instead.  What year did they go to the LSx motors?  Those years are FAST stock cars.

97 was when the Vette went to the LSx platform. F-bodies followed up a year later.

Nice looking Camaro. Good to see another one on the board :D Did the prior owner mention what converter is in the trans? I'd be looking at that first before I did anything else if that's untouched.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 8.8 Turbocoupe rear

Finally got around to uploading some pictures. I'm also selling a 351W roller .30  over with GT40P heads. Asking $500 for the motor and the heads (no accessories, and needs an oilpan. I have a 351W swap pan I can add for extra).

Misc Tech / Car dies + side of highway = pushing and tired
Sand the headlights down, buff, and polish. They'll look new again. Wetsand starting with 600 grit, then 1000, 1500, and finally 2000. Then use a rubbing compound for any final touches, and then finish off with a good plastic polish.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 8.8 Turbocoupe rear
Just sold my car, and I no longer need this rear end. It was pulled out of an 88 Turbocoupe. Has 3.73's to my knowledge (or it should anyways based on the car it came out of) but I haven't checked. Disc brakes, etc. I'm located near St.Louis on the Illinois side of the river.

Asking price? $175. I'm willing to trade for chevy parts if you've got them for an 82-92 Camaro, or engine parts. Will also consider trades for 351W parts (like an Edelbrock manifold for it or a nice carb for it.. I can add cash if needed).

PM or post if interested. I'll get pics up as soon as I can.

Suspension/Steering / 8.8 Swap proportioning valve?
Quote from: vinnietbird;362372
I see adjustable valves a lot cheaper.

I do also, but like I mentioned - this is my first time around, and they (the person helping me) did NOT like that idea.. and considering this is happening in his garage, I'm unfortunately going to need to do it his way unless I have positive evidence of that valve actually being effective. What did you do with your situation, and if you did use one of those - which one did you use? One from FMS?

Personally, I think he's just stuck in his ways as an oldtimer, or he bought a POS and didn't spend the money on a quality product. That's why I'm still all ears about this, I just need to be able to explain my reasoning for using one of these. I don't really see how you could screw things up outside of.. adjusting it too much in either which direction, in which case - understandably, the brakes will not work as intended because the amount of fluid needed is not what it should be. Am I right on this assumption?

Suspension/Steering / 8.8 Swap proportioning valve?
I have the Coolcats walkthrough on the whole thing, but I'm running into a problem with the proportioning valve. I forgot to grab it when I bought the rearend from the guy I got it from out of his turbocoupe, and finding one of these things is impossible. I see one on Ebay for an SVO Mustang @ $150 for a used component, but that's pretty expensive and I still have a bunch of stuff I need to pay for (brake lines and such) to get everything ready to go. Might be my only way out, though.

Any ideas? The guys I'm working on this thing with won't even consider going with one of the adjustable valves because they all say they are too inconsistant. Considering I've never done a rearend swap, I'm at their preference and I need something that will be easy to work with (as far as "easy" gets, anyways).
