The actuator has a little electric motor with a worm gear to drive the actuator. Try holding on to the actuator when you have it out of the door and see if the motor stalls too easy or the gears jump over their teeth.
Yes...Tried that. That's how I know that Both Actuators are working...before I place them in the Door. They Spin..and extend/retract... as designed when connected and I am holding them in my Hand. But move only enough to see the action when connected to the Latch/Lock Hardware NOTHING moves far enough to Completely Lock or Unlock when installed in the Door.
Ok... I give up I can Hold the Actuator in my hand and hit the Up/Down Buttons and all is well... I can move the Manual Lock and all is well...
But - - - When I set the Actuator into the Frame and Connect the Linkage to the Latch and hit the Up/Down Buttons .. .. Nothing Really Moves. I Hear the Actuator Energize in each direction. ... but still nothing moves.
I was only seeing some type of sealant that was obscuring my view. ... and I was leery of tearing the Plastic Packaging open without knowing, exactly, what we had.
So ... color me stupid old Phone Man Thinking Showing Thru
We recently tracked these down, as one of the stock ones broke when trying to lock the door from the outside, and I've never seen anything like these. The Kit (#E6SZ-6322052-B) contained Two Locks, Ignition Keys and New Cylinder.
My question... how does the 'Door Key' Unlock these Locks ??
I am attempting (Heavy Emphasis) to replace the Window Sweeps / Dew Wipes on CougarGal's (my Lovely Wife) '86 Turbo Cougar. That being said ... I've found a link that offers a Full Set of Wipes for an '86 T-Bird.
My Question: Is there anyone, here, that can tell me if I can make a Direct Swap between these two ? (Fully aware some alterations may be needed)
Did you bump the air intake tube off? I know I had symptoms similar on my XR-7 and the tube between the MAF and the intake was off just enough to suck air.
Didn't know that even existed on a 2.3L .. will go check ! !!
My Wife's Cougar ('86 XR-7 Turbo) was making a Low-Frequency Rattle. She asked around, up here, and found out that a Water Pump was the most-likely cause. (She is, still, having trouble with the HVAC (No Heat) and I thought I would replace the Thermostat, with a Hotter One, while I was Replacing the Water Pump.)
I got both items replaced and went to check for Coolant Leaks. ... something 'odd' seems to have happened when I tried to crank the engine ...
The Engine was running like a sewing machine when she parked it on Friday Afternoon, and I started this process on Saturday Morning. After letting all of the RTV Set/Cure - I went outside, this morning, to tighten and check everything.
When I turn the engine over it will start... run and will Idle Up. But it feels like it has a 'Miss-Fire' and, when Idled Down ... the engine stalls and quits.
