It's too bad I missed everyone when I had to blaze a trail to the North. I start forgetting things when I get in a rush. I remembered the H-pipe when I was half way home. Yesterday when I was showing the wife all the parts (she really didn't care, but she pretended to be interested), I realized I didn't pick up the one valve assembly for the E7 head either.
The plan you outlined for an SVO XR7 sounds pretty cool. That's something along the lines of what I wanted to do to the car, but didn't have the time or resources around here to get it done. Being the same color as your Saleen, the XR7 will go nicely with it.
Enjoy the car.
For all the photo junkies...I deleted most of the ones I had on my web space, but here's one of the XR7 on the trailer ready for delivery along with one of Evil86Saleen's Saleen.
I've been doing a little reading also. It seems it will be a direct swap. The only difference as a result of the possibly different A/R ratio is a minor difference in spool-up time and if I was really going to increase the boost over stock...the total amount of boost possible. I'm not concerned about that right now since all I want to do is get it running and be able to enjoy it as is.
Does anybody have any experience with these who can give me a little guidance?
I bought my car for cheap, but it has a bad turbo. I might have a lead on a T3 out of a '89 Merkur XR4Ti. I've been told this will this swap over directly, but that it might have a different A/R value on it than the stock unit in my XR-7. Will any T3 from any turbocharged Ford 2.3L work? Is there an A/R that is any more desirable over another?
I am looking to find a replacement original Electronic AM/FM Stereo Cassette radio without premium sound for my 1985 XR-7.
I have found ones that have either the red or the green numerical dispaly in them. Which is correct for my car? Does anyone have any images from an '85 dealership brochures so I can verify I have the correct unit?
Here are a few pictures to satisfy some of the requests I received. I'm in the slow process of learning about turbocharged cars since the Coubar is my first.
