T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / wtb: 87 or 88 tbird
i used to be an active member of this site about two years ago when i owned a beat up 88 tbird lx, and i was forced to get rid of it. two years later, i realized how much i miss that car. i am now in the market for an 87 or 88 tbird. i am located in central ohio and am willing to travel some, just not states away. i want to find one for cheap, like 1500 or less, but if the car is right, i may be willing to spend more. someone help me out. thanks alot guys

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / found a turbo coupe. is it worth it?
the alignment would be the least of my worries because i have a friend who works at the local monroe who can do it any sunday for me for free. but i used to have a tbird and i regret getting rid of it but i do remember it was rotted out right at the bottom of the quarter panels in front and behind the rear wheels on both sides, and the fenders and  doors were rotting out at the bottom and the underside was getting pretty bad. and when i took a close look at those pictures, its looking like it has all the same rust. maybe not as bad, but it is there and judging by the fact that he said its spent its whole life by lake erie, the underside of the car is probably horrible. i think i'm just gonna pass this one up and save some money and buy one that is worth it

yeah thats what i was afraid of. lol thats how i ended up with the talon in the first place was because i jumped on the first car i saw that was in my price range that was cool and then i ended up doing alot of work when the clutch went out and the front suspension wasnt up to par. this time i figured i'd do some more research. the car is exactly what i want, tc with all the options and a five speed. it just looks like it wasnt taken care of so i'm gonna have to turn it down i think

hey guys, i have been searching for a thunderbird to trade my car for and i think i may have found it. this guy wants to trade but i dont know if it would be worth what he wants for it. its exactly the car i want but i just need oppinions if its worth the $1500. its a 200 mile drive for me and he said he cant meet me half way because the allignment is way out and it wont make it that far. do you think its even worth my time? oh yeah, i'd be trading a 1997 eagle talon non turbo, same as mitsubisi eclipse which is blue booked at around $1700

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / trying to get back in the bird game
my mother thinks that a rear wheel drive car is the worst thing ever to put a teenager in in the snow. but to be honest. i drove both the tbird and the talon in the snow last year and i was more confident in the tbird. and as for having two cars. i cant afford both right now til probably after i graduate in june, but shortly after i will be going off to college at university of northwestern ohio, for automotive technology/ high performance motorsports and business administration, and there they encourage you to work on your own vehicles. so its possible that i may start looking for a clean, not running car for a decent price that i could work on in college and use all the resources that will be open to me

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / trying to get back in the bird game
hey everybody, its been forever since i've been on these forums. about a year to be exact. i used to have an 88 thunderbird lx when i first got my license over a year ago, but when winter came around i realized how bad the car really was, and well, so did my parents. it was completely rotted out and had so many things wrong with it. well they made me get a more reliable car. i was still very immature and i ended up getting a 1997 Eagle Talon esi, basically the same as the mitsubishi eclipse, because hey what sixteen year old doesnt wanna be like the guy from the fast and the furious. god that was a stupid move and now i'm kicking myself for that one. i mean its a fun car and its reliable and everything, but it just doesnt match up to the old thunderbird lol. so now i'm looking to trade the talon off on maybe a decent shape turbo coupe, but the problem is talking my mom into it. she thinks that a rear wheel drive car is the worst thing ever and thats part of the reason why she made me get rid of the old lx. anyways, does anybody on here have any clue where i'd find a halfway decent 87-88 tc that would be willing to trade? oh, i'm sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forums, but i wasnt sure where to put it :/

ah, another thread about someone wanting to build a big motor, but has no money. good luck!

lol yeah and that of course is why i have decided to stick with just rebuilding my existing 302. cheaper and easier. the car will probably be sitting all winter because i dont think it will do good in the snow anyways because its already bad enough in the rain. but i plan on either painting it black or a dark red this winter if i can find a place to paint it and while im at it ill probably pull the motor and paint the engine bay and just rebuild what i have and put a stall converter in it and such. do some cheaper performance mods here and there but nothing too over the top. maybe a cam, intake, and lifters and some gt40 or ported e7 heads if i can find any. im only 16 years old and im trying hard to get a job so i can pay for all of this stuff this winter. sorry if i come off as the spoiled kid but i honestly dont think i am. i bought the car myself from a friend for $200 and my dad drove the car after i bought it til i got my license

so this winter im planning on workin on the car if money allows me to. i want to paint it. im thinking about just painting it black. but my question is, is there anyone on here running a stroker in there fox bird or cougar? im really thinking about building a stroker for mine this winter but idk what all im gonna have to do. is it worth the money? i know im gonna have to at least either get a newer 302 to put in the car or rebuild the one i have because its burning oil and its got 160,000 miles on it, so i was just looking through a jegs catalog and i was thinking about just stroking it. lol but i dont want to do that if its gonna cost a couple thousand dollars
