I had to sell my 86 Elan T-Bird, 88 5.0l Stang and both of my Bronco II when I bought my 2011 FX4 Ranger. I miss my Bird which I had for 15 years and my bush buggy. I will get another Bird some day. I wish I would of kept my custom ECM. The next bird I get will be TC which are rare up here in good shape.
I just bought 06 F150 4X4. I have too many cars now.
I have had this car for 13 years (3rd owner).
Newer paint job, 5.0l EFI auto, 1 5/8" Mac shorty headers, 2 1/2" dual exhaust, 78 ported heads, 88 Mustang lower, upper intake, 55 mm TB, about 340000 km on motor, Holey racing fuel pump, Full tow package that has trailer brakes and isolator for charging 2nd battery, 88 Mustang alt.
The motor has aprox 340000-360000 km on it ( it leaks some motor oil but does not burn it). AC was taken out just after I bought the car to lighten it . The mods to the car are 2 1/2" dual exhaust, ported 78 heads,(traded my E7 heads for axels for my Bronco II), 55mm tb with mustang lower and upper intakes and a holley racing pump. I also have a spare 88 HO cam .I put stock injectors and ecm back in. I have a spare 87 ecm not sure if the 86 or 87 is better (I have a spare mass air ecm from a 92 T-Bird but I need to rewire the pins on the ecm and not sure how it would haddle a heaver car). Transmission cooler before rad but I will be putting after the rad some time today to cool off the tranny better. Also I will be installing a bigger tranny cooler on that I have lying around. New filter and tranny oil about 15000 km ago (about 3 years). Timing is bumped to 12 deg but will be lowering it to 10 deg today some time. Overall the car has been driven hard by me for the last 12 years but always maintained. GF babies it.
I will check the compession of the motor when I have some spare time.
I have an 86 Elan T-Bird. It has 11 inch rear brakes and from what I have read it can pull a trailer up to 3850 lbs. I put an external tranny cooler. I just got back from a 200 km trip with it and the motor ran hot. About 3/4 on the idiot gauge. I didn't use over drive and what a pig on gas. What can i do to lower my temp on my motor and tranny? What else can I do to make it easer to pull my trailer so the motor dosen't work so hard?
I am not sure where to post this on this site. Mod move it to where it should be. I just received this from Jim Oaks founder and owner of TRS.
Dear Member,
I appologize for this email. I don't normally email the members but this is an emergency.
Today, (December 9, 2008) I received a letter from the law offices of Howard, Phillips & Andersen that represent the Ford Motor Company. Ford is forcing us to surrender the name 'therangerstation.com' to them and stop using it. Ford states that using the name 'Ranger' when used in reference to the Ford Ranger is a trademark violation. In addition they are wanting me to pay them $5,000.
As you may know, The Ranger Station has been around for the past 10 years and has been a valuable resource to Ranger enthusiasts.
If Ford does this to us, where will they stop?
I have 10-days to surrender the name and pay them $5,000. I'm asking that you contact Ford online and ask them to reconsider making us change our name and prohibiting us from using the word 'Ranger'.
I am writing concerning your recent legal attacks on various "fan" websites for vehicles such as the Mustang and Ranger. I am insulted by this careless misuse of our legal system and am reconsidering any further vehicle purchases from your company until you cease and desist from any further legal action concerning this subject. I have been a Ford owner for many years and I had hoped to stay that way. These attacks are morally wrong since they are geared towards your customers, and do not instill the least bit of confidence in your brand. For the sake of your business, I ask you to please reconsider immediately.
Thank you."
Thank you for your support and I applogize for this email.

Please express your opion to Ford. Who knows which site is next.
I gave my wife my T-Bird and she loves the car. So today while she is running around with our daughter a rock flys out of a dump truck bounces on the road and takes out my back window with the kid sitting in the back and shatters my back window. Call around for a new one and they want $535 installed for it. Local junk yard has one that he will be pulling in the morning. I got it all cleaned out old glass and rubber but what a mess I made so now it will need a new paint job. the wife is happy about the paint job because the car is going from white to tweety yellow (Not my idea).
Does anyone have any digrams on the 3.8 cfi? I am still thinking of installing it on my 2.8l Bronco2. This project wont start for a while but I would like to know as much info as possible before I start.
Anything is an upgrade to the 2.8l motors. The setup that ford had on this motor was a POS from day one. My buddies dad owned one brand new and it was gutless. I will fix what ford would not do.
My Bronco2 has an electric carb that work off of a computer. This motor is a 2.8l. The problem ford used this setup for a couple of years then s it. In europe this engine was used from 74-85 on a carb and standard ignition and it was a great little motor. Read this if this helps http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/2_8_FuelInjection.html . This is what im thinking of. Or I will switch my motor over to a carb with a duraspark conversion. http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/2_8Duraspark.html. I hope this helps.
Im looking at doing a conversion on my 2.8l bronco2. I have read that TB fi from the 3.8l motors bring my motor to life. I would like to know which years it came in? Also I need wiring digrams for this project.
