From an '88 TC. I have never used or tested it, but it looks good. It has both connectors attached with an inch of wiring. Shipping from Europe. Price = actual S&H, nothing more nothing less, about $40.
I pulled the right door panel today and disconnected the power lock switch. It looks like someone once did something with the wiring that goes into the switch's connector. Having the right switch disconnected, the buttons on the left door that wouldn't work, work all of a sudden as does locking the car with 7-8/9-0 on the keypad. Seems like the keyless entry module isn't at fault.
jcassity, I want to reconnect the wires to the connector the correct way. Do you have a closeup of the power lock switch's wiring? It's a bit hard to read the relevant EVTM pages on my computer screen.
Something else I noticed, when I unlock the driver's door using the keypad, pressing the 3-4 button does not unlock the passenger's door.
All related fuses are ok, will get some new ones tomorrow and replace them anyway. I have the left door panel off now, switch and wiring look ok, haven't opened it yet. If there's a sound in the trunk when I press a lock/unlock button, does this mean there's some sort of circuit breaker in the keyless module that opens?
I'm having some trouble with my power locks, I'm not sure where the problem is:
- opening the locks with the keyless entry keypad works fine, locking by pressing 7-8/9-0 does not however. Trunk opens using the keypad. - when I press the unlock button on the right door, it locks both doors. The lock button does nothing, not even a sound in the trunk. - when I press either button on the left door nothing happens, but there's a sound in the trunk.
Since both doors are able to get locked/unlocked somehow, is it safe to assume both actuators are alright? How likely is it to be a faulty keyless entry module?
Could be two unrelated things. The oil pressure problem could be a faulty oil pressure sender, provided there's nothing wrong with your oil pressure in the first place. I had the same problem, replaced the sender and all has been fine after that. Sometimes my digital cluster won't light up right away, but after a while it does. Maybe a bad/corroded connector somewhere, not sure if it could also be a bad headlight switch.
I'm looking at two replacement gear kits. Both should be ok for my car. One kit is for 'Vehicles w/o Greaseable Cap' and the other is for 'Vehicles w/Greaseable Cap'. What is a greasable cap?
I'm going to check out a car this week, current owner says the (power) windows will not open anymore. A winter ago he tried opening them to remove snow from the windows but because they were frozen shut, they wouldn't open. Ever since, the windows have stopped working though you can hear the motors running.
How likely is it to be a couple of broken motors? And if it isn't, how easy is it to fix the lifting mechanisms? I know it's a hard to tell without actually having the car here, but I want to know about how much extra it would cost me to fix the windows.
Whenever I shift (column shift) from P to D, I get a continuous hissing noise. When it's in D and I wiggle the gear selector a bit and put the car in OD and then start driving, there's no noise at all. When driving and shifting from OD to D, the noise returns.
So this is probably a vacuum leak? I did some searching and found some references to the automatic parking break release switch, but I'm not sure I have one. There's been a few occasions I drove off with the parking break still on, so I guess it's not releasing by itself, or that switch has never worked. I'm not sure where to look to locate this problem. Can anyone help, or explain where/how vacuum is used when shifting?
plus ive noticed theres a black wire that looks like it should be plugged but its not and its cut and nothing seems to be wrong (looks stock not like someone messed with it) whats the story behind this?
Don't know, but mine has that unplugged, cleanly cut black wire, too, so I guess the wire is not used/needed in our keypads

i took off the door panel to check at the plug and it looks alike
Do you have a picture of your plug? My plug is different from the one in the ebay auction
