User Rides / New 85 TC Owner - Introduction
Quote from: Mikelonis;266617

I swear, I painted my Torino before that movie came out. Don't know who that one belongs too, some guy in the Detroit area.

Cheers.

That car in the movie was bought new in Springfield Missouri and stayed in that area and restored in around 2000 and then sold on ebay and was bought by by a company called Salt City Classic and Muscle from Utah. Then Larry Stelling bought it to use in the movie for Clint Eastwood and apparantly Clint wants them to hang onto it!
All according to an article in the Fairlane club of America's magazine.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Question about 20th anniversary Cougar
Another related question. Does anyone know what the actual production numbers were for these cars? I know there was supposed to be 5000 for US and 350 for Canada but I was talking to someone back around 1990 that said Ford/Mercury didn't end up making that many because they ran out of the material for the seats. Anyone heard of this?

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Question about 20th anniversary Cougar
What I meant by the trunk kit was the little tool kit that was supposed to come later from Ford/Mercury.Has the proper floor mats. As far as the post being worthless without pics, well just look at a brochure of a brand new 20th and that's what it looks like. Yes it has the sunroof.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Question about 20th anniversary Cougar
My parents bought an 20th Anniversary Cougar new. It has never been winter driven. It only has about 80000kms/50000miles +-on it. It has all options available. They never did get the trunk kit for it for some reason.Still smells new inside. Always covered. All original except battery and tires. The gatorbacks got flat spots from sitting so much.NO scratches or dings anywhere. The only flaw that I could see was the paint was peeling abit on the rear window trim. Anyways my parents are getting up in years and are thinking of getting rid of the car. I would love it for myself, but I already have my 85 HO T-bird and my 64 Fairlane so another car is out of the question. What do you think a car like this is worth today?

Electrical Tech / 87 t-bird V8 with turbocoupe dash
I did this swap with my 85 Turbo Coupe back in 1990. No problems. Just a matter of a connecting a few wires. Everything bolt in. I even had the original 4 cylinder tach modified to work with the v8. I took it to a local electronics expert and he soldered in an adjustable resistor and I put it back in the car and "set" the resistor comparing to another tach and then took the tach back to him and he measured the resistance and soldered in a permanent resistor. Very accurate. I use an Autometer tach with shift light when I drag race and it is right on with it! You would be better off finding a turbo coupe since you would get the disc brakes all around and better gears. Also I think the sports still had the 10" front rotors.  TC has 11" rotors.
