Made the decision to sell the T-bird, time to move on to other projects. Car located in South-east Virginia. History of the car: I purchased the car from the original owner in 1999, up until that point it was garaged. Was originally a V6 car, I performed the 5.0 HO / TC Rear End swap in 2001. Drove the car until around 2008 when I parked it. Recently pulled the motor/trans to part out. Currently the car has everything aside from motor, trans, driveshaft and wheels. The body is fairly straight, no rust or damage. It's been a VA car it's entire life, no real snow down here.
Beside all the stock components, the car has: Ford Motorsports M-5300-E Springs (Front/Rear) Maximum Motorsports Caster/Camber plates 3.73 Turbo Coupe Rear End with drum brakes (Trac-Lock Rebuilt) Turbo Coupe Header Panel Lincoln LSC H-Pipe V-8 wiring harness B&M Hammer Shifter
Exterior: Silver paint is original. All body panels are straight, with minimal dings, no rust. All lights, glass and trim. Does need a new front windshield.
Interior: Original red/maroon interior in good condition. Have original seats.
I'm open to offers on the car. Ultimately, I'd like to see it go to a good home and not the s yard. I do have a clear title on the car.
I can answer any questions, I know the car pretty well by now. :D
Thanks guys,
Ronnie
Pics: Note the rims and engine are not with the car any longer. If you are interested in the car, we will need to arrange wheels to load on trailer.
Well for a while Ive been on the fence about whether or not to continue modding the car or to find a new toy. The car has sentimental value to me since its the first car Ive owned, but its time for some major work that needs to be done.
Ive had three quotes for body work/paint, nothing crazy, I would like to stay with silver. However, the hood and fenders have hail damage, the entire front end(1/4 panels, hood, header panel, doors) need to be aligned, there are numerous dents and dings that need to be fixed. I was told the hood was so bad that it should be replaced because reparing it cost more. I was expecting to spend around $2500 for the work and Im finding out that it will be atleast $4500 to do it right. I guess I could Maaco it for cheap, but the car would look like ass and I refuse to do it. If I spent $4500 on paint, I'd be scared to drive it really knowing how hard body parts are to find. I really want to keep the car alive, but want to be practical at the same time. Im tempted to look for a decent foxbody stang as a new toy.
Im not sure what to do at this point, Im an engine person, not a body/paint person, so this is new to me. Opinions?
Hopefully Ford can get their chit together, I think something drastic would have to happen though. Their cars just arent selling other than the puppiesanese engineered/mexican built Fusion and with gas prices the way they are, the F150 sales have taken a serioushiznit. Guess only time will tell..
Well after spending a little over a year at my current job working everywhere from Atanta, New Orleans, St Louis, and recently Columbus OH, I have received a job offer back home in Eastern VA. My current job requires weekdays/weekends on call and very long work hours(24hr days are not uncommon) so this will be a nice break. And for more money, less hours, no on call, and the chance to be back home, Im accepting the offer. The job is for an Electrical engineering position dealing with PLC programming and automation. Anyway, Im pretty excited to be going home so thought Id share.
Finally swapped out my axles in my TC 8.8 rearend with 9in drum brakes with some fox stang axles. Everything worked great, while I was at it I installed new drums/shoes and the motorsport springs. I was running Weld draglites with 5.5BS but now run 4.5BS and as you can see it fits perfectly in the wheelwell.
The motorsport springs didnt lower the front as much as Id like though, might have to cut a coil to get it lower. But the rear is the height I want it.
Just west of me here in Columbus they had a Shelby Cobra gathering in London. The most Cobras Ive ever seen, they blocked off the streets and did burnouts and 1/4mile blasts. Ive always liked the Shelby Cobra's and I had the chance to do some research on some of the many kits out there on the market...Who knows.
Just picked up a new set on ebay for $50 so I figured I should jump on it. Im looking to lower by about 1.5in or so. Anyone have experience with them??
Oh well, I recently saw a GT500 in person, and it looks like to be honest. The concept and show cars look good, but we shoulda known the actual production ones look pretty tacky. The rims look like , the hood looks like , and the deck lid just did not flow right. It was a convertable, but just didnt look right. I was somewhat dissappointed.
Took a trip down to Va from here in Northern Ohio, I havent brought my car or truck up here, the weather sucks and too much salt. So, I recently put on some new front rims, 15x7's rather than the skinnies I had. Once the weather gets better here(if it ever does), I'll bring my car and run at Norwalk which is pretty close. But these should be the last pics before the car is painted/body work done, so I wont have to look at 18yrs old silver paint anymore...
Looking for a source on 87-88 Tbird corner lights, I need to replace mine and have come up empty handed. Im sure theres a source somewhere. I looked on ebay awhile back and they sold for $125 each  But cant find anymore now.
