I was driving today and hit a bump and immediately hear a "crunch"
I thought it was a soda can or something and keep driving, only to find out it clear cover has fallen off.
Where can I get replacement covers?
Within a day of it falling off the bulb went bad because it broke. no doubt due to being exposed to elements while driving in wind and rain on the way home.
If I am driving for a while in the heat in stop and go traffic, or for long distances in the heat up a hill, for example, is it normal for the car to go to 5 bars on the temperature gauge?
I noticed it did this on the way to Stockton today. It was up a long hill and it was flopping between 4-5 bars. Turning on the heater got it back to 4 bars/middle.
What temperature is 5 bars and is this normal/safe?
Stock 5.0 Thunderbird 1988 w/OG fuel pump that just went out.
Can I replace it with any style pump? Mechanic is saying there are two different style pumps for this car, or something. I just need to know if that's correct and what the replacement pump is I can use.
Please let me know ASAP, this is an I'm stuck in a city far away emergency,
Recently I noticed when I run my AC or just try to run the climate control my car will overheat. There is a cylinder part that hoses go to from the A/C condenser near the rear of the engine above the back of the right valve cover (Valve cover with Oil Fill neck) that seems to be really getting hot and overheating. It's got copper tubing coming from it and connects to the A/C via that long rubber tube and after long trips my car has been overheating.
What is this part? It also has two wires coming from the top, if that helps. It's a very standard part, I just don't know the name of them and what the cause of my symptoms are if anybody can help.
I recently tried using my washer fluid and it was low. No big deal. I parked my car and on the next start, the Service light on the digital dash, next to where the Speed indicator is, came on.
Is this likely because of the washer fluid being low? I will try new washer fluid this afternoon, I just never heard of a service light coming on for this reason.
Does anybody have a front header panel for a 1988 Thunderbird LX? I have the champagne color and need the header panel w/lights, etc. in good working order.
I came around a corner and washiznit going about 10 MPH by a truck. Thankfully, the grille shattered and the bumper got pushed in a little, but no damage to the radiator occurred and the car is fine otherwise.
Can somebody recommend a good solution to covering the hole that is where my grille used to be? Somebody recommended a bra, but I am afraid it won't cover the grille area and the hole will still be visible.
