T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / SOLD 1988 Thunderbird Sport SOLD
SOLD - Thanks everyone

Well as much as I don't want to it's time to sell my TBird. The good news is the wife is due in March, the bad news is I don't want to deal with having to load two car seats in the back, etc, and having 3 vehicles is not an option right now. So up for sale it goes. I looked for quite awhile for this car, since I wanted a rust free Sport with just about every option I could get.

I picked this car up about two years ago from southern Arizona. I've got the original window sticker, and the 1988 Thunderbird brochure. Since I bought it I haven't done very much to it, just a new windshield, sequential tail lights, 3G alternator upgrade with Taurus fan (done correctly with 70 amp relays etc.) I kept the original parts if you would like to put it back to stock. I've done a throttle body cleaning, fuel injector service, spark plug change and it passed emissions easily. I also have some extra parts, like another buttstuffog dash, digital dash, automatic temp controller, just stuff I found at the local yard that looked nice & thought I may one day need or experiment with. Also have a 3:73 ring gear & pinion with a new install kit for a 8.8 rear axle along with a set of twin piston caliper 5 lug complete spindle setups for the front. I'm sure there's more.

The car runs great and has nice cold A/C. For the bad, the dash is cracked, the cruise control isn't working but I haven't really looked at it yet other than to know it is hooked up in the left fender well, and the previous owner repainted the roof, it looks okay but at times under certain light you can tell it isn't a perfect color match. Also I have a B&M shifter that was installed, but I put a factory shifter back in it, but am missing the factory cable bracket down on the tranny so I'm using the B&M cable so the gear indicator doesn't line up.

The car has 140K miles and is located in Salt Lake City asking $2100. Please feel free to ask or PM any questions, Thanks, Scott

Any questions please call 801-230-9417

User Rides / Dad I want to drive...
So while I was putting on the electric fan, underdrive pulleys, and fixing the power antenna, my 9 month old decided she wanted to take the Sport for a spin around the block. :burnout: :D
All I could think of was the song "fun fun fun till my daddy takes my TBird away"

Don't pay any attention to the dirt or ugly hardware and zipties - all will be fixed soon with the final battery relocate project

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / Spal Dual 11" Fan
I was going to use this, but decided to go with a different setup. I bought it used from a friend who only had it a few months. The fans work great. Any questions on them, please ask.
Asking $130.00 plus shipping. Shipped from Salt Lake City Utah, but not sure how much it would be.

Website info SpalUSA.com click on highperformance fans, the dual 11". Spec sheet in PDF on their website if you can't read my picture of it.

Thought I'd offer to folks here first, instead of Ebay so I don't get questions like "will this fit my most awesome ricer project with quad turbos making a gazillion horsepower that runs 16's because I can't get any traction" :D

Thanks

Misc Tech / Autodim/compass rear view mirror install
So I was checking out the cars at Pull A Part on Sunday and spotted a 96 Lincoln Continental. I grabbed the rear view mirror along with as much wiring as I could get with it. Cost was $9.00. On a side note I'm going to check out the side mirrors and see how they would look on the 88 Sport, since the autodim ties into those also. Now to figure out the wiring:confused: Found this good website though so all is well Mirror Install

Stock mirror

New mirror

For the wiring I just spliced in at the drivers kick panel where this connector had two unused key powers (I used the smaller one a violet/orange) the reverse wire (black/pink), and ground (black)- not shown is that I tapped into the dash lights so the compass would dim with the dash lights

Then I spliced into the interior light wire here (black/blue)

Nice easy install, only took about an hour. Now I just need to attach my headlight dimming module to the right upper side of the compass and I'll be all done.

edited for spelling

Electrical Tech / So who relocated the battery to the trunk?
I'm gathering up some stuff to relocate my battery to the trunk area when I install my 3G and electric fan. I just wanted to know who else had done this, and what they liked about their install and what they wish they would have done different. Also what battery box / hold down did you use and how did you secure it to the vehicle. Of course Pics would really be nice :D  Thanks

User Rides / Newer member with pics finally
Hello again, I finally got some pics of my 88 Sport since picking up about 4 weeks ago. It's not perfect but I really wanted a clean starting point, and with it living it's life in Tuscon AZ I think I found it. Driving it home for 10 hours also let me know all the things that need some attention, like the cruise is inop, needs a new dash light dimmer switch (dash lights are currently wired into accy wire), needed new swaybar to body bushings (fixed). Front struts are new but seem extremely stiff for the first 1" of travel. The previous owner had put in a B&M Quicksilver shifter, then removed it so the center console around the shifter is hacked up (I did get the B&M shifter so I may just reinstall it to hide the hack job).

Now for the next mods - wading through the wall of text search results for which 8.8 rearend to use with 5 lug drum brakes and use 10" wide rims. From my Mustang endeavors I've got a 3G alt, Taurus Fan, Underdrive pulley kit, 3.73's in the garage to install. Switching over to Megasquirt while it's mostly stock to get the tune right and start the motor work.

There are some really super nice Tbirds and Cougars on this forum to keep me motivated and inspired.

And a thanks to ArizonaTC for the info on this car after my original posts

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / New guy saying Hi and some ?'s
Hello all, I'm picking up a 88 Sport on the first. I currently have a semi-beater 88 Mustang GT Hatch. My wife and I had a 86 Elan we drove from 1988 to 2000 putting 250,000 miles on it with no magor mechanical problems :D I really wanted a Tbird but couldn't fine what I was looking for when I finally bought the Stang a year ago. So after looking off and on I finally found this car.

So some ?'s - I've got a 5 lug swap sitting in the garage I was going to do on the stang with the 2001 dual piston brakes & spindles and ranger axles+drums. After looking on this site it looks like the ranger axles won't work due to the longer Tbird rear axle width. So if I don't have an 8.8 in the car is it best to get one out of a turbo coupe or 94 to 99(?) mustang? and why?
I really want to run this wheel setup
PonyR 17" wheels

Also anyone know if I should pull my Mac full length headers (for a T5) off the stang before I sell it - will they fit the Aod bird?

Thanks
