User Rides / My next fox
Its the 86 Xr7 my dad bought from a member on here last year. He dont understand nunna that fuel injection so he wants to trade for my fairmont, which hes rebuilding a 351c for but will probably never get done... whatever. Anyway...
It has an IHI and 87-88 hood/IC combo swapped in, other than that, all stock. The IHI is trashed though, so I have a decision to make there. I can either swap the IHI from my TC in or I can swap a T3/T4 china turbo and cross my fingers. Its an auto car though so I think Ill just stick with the IHI and maybe port an E6 and find one of those compressor upgrades on ebay.
As I said it has a C3, which I plan on keeping at least for a while. It has a decent size cooler in the front, so that gives me hope that the tranny is in good shape. Can anything be done performance-wise to these?
What all needs to be swapped to bring an 83-86 2.3 to 87-88 specs? I know VAF, injectors, LA3, but what about the intake manifold and throttle body? The TB is definitely smaller. It has the taller style intake too, for the older style valve cover (which I like).
At this point my plan is to swap any goodies I can from my TC and then it will be up for parts/sale/s. The body is just too far gone for me to deal with, the XR7 is in way better shape.

Misc Tech / "Highflow Performance" fuel pumps?
They claim they are superior to genuine walbros because they are near silent compared to the notorious whine of a walbro, they have a one year warranty vs walbro making you pay $40 when you send a pump in. They also claim their pump outflows any other 255lph intank pump on the market at any pressure.
Its between that and a used walbro 255 I found locally on craigslist for $50...

Lounge / Removing oil from pavement
Theres a lot of oil on the asphalt parking spots, and I dont really wanna get charged for it. So I was wondering what you guys do to clean it up.
I was thinking of getting a gallon of simple green or something and just dumping it on and scrubbing it in but if theres something better for it I would like to know...

Engine Tech / Crankcase ventilation issue
I have the stock PCV setup on the drivers side.
On the passenger side I have the stock VC breather, but with a hose running to a catch can, and then from the can to the line that goes to the turbo inlet.
Im not seeing any oil going to the catch can. The clear vinyl hoses are clean.
When I have the car running, I can pull the hose off and theres no vacuum at all.
I can blow into the hose, so its not blocked up or anything.
Why is this? Shouldnt there be a constant vacuum on the VC breather when the engine is running?
My intakes getting a lot of oil in it. Doesnt smoke though. But like I said under decel you get the smell of it a lot.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / TC is back to DD duty
VERY strange driving a festiva for 5 months and then going back to the bird. I feel like I'm going to run into everything. The steering is quite sloppy compared to festiva manual steering. I feel claustrophobic in the bird too lol. So much more glass and headroom in the festy. Its losing oil and powersteering fluid like mad. But it fires up the first time every time and idles awesome. Even on 5 month old gas. Almost got 34 mpg on the tripminder driving 25-30 miles from my dads to home too.
The festiva had a best ET of 14.13 and a best MPH of 102.67. I think I got a little carried away trying to squeeze a 13 out of it (and get kicked out for no helmet lol). I could be facing a burnt piston or valve.
