If you drop the whole rack you can pull the whole shaft out. Lot of work though. Probably have to pull the oil pan.
Dont necessarily have to drop the oil pan. Ive gotten away with jacking up the engine a bit (stretching the motor mounts) to get the steering rack out.
I put 6 LED 194 bulbs in. Just the ones for the dash illumination. First set was off of Amazon, made by J Tech or something. They started flickering after a year. This most recent set, also from Amazon, sold by Yorkim. These seem to be doing alright. -Kyle
Regarding electric fans: flexalite makes a pretty good electric fan controller. It has a temp "sensor" you stick through the radiator and itll kick on you electric fans when they hit temp. Also, you can dial in that temp.
I'm opposed to doing upper SFCs because i don't want to pull up the carpet and seats and cut out some of the floor pans. I understand that its better, but its more involved.
And yes, that's exactly what i was thinking about doing. Homemade SFC, with chucks seat brackets, and global west units.
Has anyone tried full length connectors, with seat brackets AND the global west units? Cuz the global west units kick out wider toward the doors. So they might not interfere with one another.
Yeah it is! And theres quite a bit of investment with that process. If your sole purpose is to shed weight, you can also consider cutting away the "structure" from the underside of the hood. Leaving you with just the "skin" of the hood. But dont be surprised if its more flimsy. Then run hood pins instead of the hood latch. Just some ideas!
Id try giving this guy a call. you can also consider making your own, theres videos on youtube! I think most guys make a fiberglass mold of the top and bottom of the hood, a "negative" if you will. Then you lay carbon fiber in the molds, pull the epoxy through. Allow to cure, then you have a "positive" of the top and bottom. Epoxy those together and done. That's it in a nutshell :)
@Aerocoupe and thunderjet: Thanks, I think i'll just run a 23 tooth speedo gear on my VSS. Simple to swap out. Ive replaced my VSS about 4 yrs ago thinking that was causing the speedometer in my cluster to act up. NOPE! Cluster died :(
@50RACER, no thanks, I already have my 8.8 sitting in my garage. Waiting on some money to come in since the 8.8 is 5 lug. So im hunting for 17in 5x4.5 wheels/tires. But I appreciate the offer.
Go here and use the calculator to determine the tooth count. Once you have that figured out you can buy the speedo gears from your local dealer if you are in a bind or if not you can order them all over the internet.
I ended up having to replace the yellow 7 tooth drive gear on the output shaft of my T-5 to a black 6 tooth so I could run an 19 tooth driven gear on the speedo cable. I kept shreading the higher count driven gear on the speedo cable.

So Im looking to put in an 8.8 rear with 3.73s. Tire size is 225/60/15. According to your link, AOD's have 8 tooth drive gear. So I need a 22.6 tooth speedo gear, so I should get a 23 tooth speedo gear, right?
And I might upgrade rear tires to 285/40/17. That gives me a 23.2 tooth speedo gear.
Just looking for some validation here. Thanks! -Kyle
