Electrical Tech / digital dash

Oh mercy me, Ive been on here for this long with little help and now i see I am not alone. I havent logged on to check this place in forever but after the nice weather yesterday i had the urge to start up the Cat. Ive been plagued with the same issues, at first erratic speedo now none. And at first no tripminder, I remedied that by cleaning the contacts on the r.h. side of the gauge cluster.

As for the dashlights not working with the headlights, I had the same issue as well as a problem in the wiper circut. Mind you folks this started with a buzz in my speakers and a faulty heater core.
I discovered grounding the cigarette lighter fixed the backlight/headlight/wiper issue.
After that my 2month out of warranty alternator kicked the bucket.
I replaced it with little issue until the wiring harness going into the alternator melted down right at the plug.

These cars seem to be a wiring disaster, I am personally ready to gut the whole thing and cough up the 700 for a painless kit.

....no speedo, no cruise, door chime is erratic. something went screwy in my column as well is my worst fear. Key still turns power on but solenoid signal wire doesnt work.
sorry for the poor format/rant , i need to sleep on this again.

belive it or not, but the mojority of your problems (excluding the alt) could be a bad ignition switch.

If youre going to go 351W get one out of a late 94 or newer pick up.
That would be a factory roller motor.

To be sure, look above the starter for the casting number (F4TE) and that is a factory roller block.

The V6 converter is actually SLIGHTLY looser than the stock 5.0 converter from what I understand, but it aint gonna be near enough.

yes the V6 converter has a higher stall, I'm not sure how much, but behind a 5.o ho I noticed the difference when I went from a V6 converter to a V8 converter.

The Converter out of a Mark VII has the highest stall out of them all.

Suspension/Steering / Half finished 5 lug conversion
finished!!

Had a bit of a SNAFU with the rear. I droped it off for a alighnment and they called me later on that day to tell me I have a bent axle.So I went to a junk yard and picked up two axles. I installed both axles only to find one was bent, so now through trial and error I found my orignal straight axle. Anyway it's done. On a side note I will never use mark spindles again.

Electrical Tech / Digital speedo 199mph mod.

if they made the digital dash so that it would only go to 85 then why would they put the one in if the speedo would never go up to 100? just thought it was kind of funny

for kilometers.

100 Km/H is 62 MPH

See I wouldnt have a problem doing that except the discharge part, idk how let alone what to store the discharge in if i do?
(I dont understand discharge)

You still have R12 in you're system? If you do that is pretty amazing

If You have R134A you can just vent it out. It's CFC free and to replace it is around $8.00 a pound

On all of my older cars I replaced the receiver/dryer, pressure switch, flushed the system, refilled with PAG oil and recharged with R134A. It's cheaper, environmentally friendly and in a jam I can buy R134A at wall-mart.

Misc Tech / Heater Core Replacement
This is all I have as far as pictures, and I had to discharge the AC and remove the whole heater box.
