Lounge / FTCF Military Members?
US Navy from 1972 to 1998.  Lots of places:  Moffett Field, Ca. Cecil Field, Fl. Lemoore, Ca. Atsugi puppiesan, China Lake, Ca.

And it's nice being a civilian again.  10 years and counting.:D

I could be wrong but I heard that Ford no longer offers a manual transmission in any full size truck.  Same for GM.

Lounge / So Ford neglects another stalwart to death...
Everyone can talk "outdated" and complain that it hasn't been changed significantly in 26 years but, it is the only small truck left.  Any car company makes decisions strickly on money.  This is why I still have my 92 Ranger.  Everyone else has gone big.

The Ranger does what it's designed to do.  I have not need for a big truck.  But per the sales figures it doesn't make sense for Ford to keep the plant and continue building a vehicle with continuing declining sales.

Which brings up the point of the killing of the most successfull Fords ever built besides the T.  Fox platform everything and the 83-88 Tbirds and Cougars.  Highly successful but few people will buy two door cars anymore.  Toyota and Nissan and their primium brands can afford to sell two doors in low volume.  Ford cannot.

However, I did hear that Ford may redo the Ranger completely, make it bigger but not as big as the F-150 and sell it as a F-100.  Just another small truck converted to a bigger truck.  But Ford will probably be first for small diesels in light trucks.  Less than 5 liter and possibly a V6.  We'll all have to wait and see.

Lounge / Sweet merciful , why didn't I think of this???
Just think of the possibilities.  No need for lers or air filters.  Zero emissions.  Once you get it running there's no need for spark plugs.  It ought to just keep running.

kinda like a perpetual motion thing going on.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Fox Greedy
I have serious parking problems.  Four is too many, three is just right.  Even though I think the 3.8 V6 is the piest:toilet:  engine ever built by Ford I keep getting them.  I must be crazy or stupid.  Although the new 3.8 engine in the 92 Bird runs great and feels like much more horsepower than it has.

Drivetrain Tech / Really bad vibration
Since you've done everything except checking the motor/trans mounts I vote that you do that next.

Just suppose the engine and tranny are moving about...side to side, up and down and the only stable thing you've got is the rear end.  So, you accelerate, the engine torques up and to the right, the tranny tail shaft goes left, right, left, right and causes the driveshaft to make that "tinkle" sound on the exhaust.  I really think ductape91's got it right.

While your down there check and see if the flexplate to torque converter bolts are tight, the exhaust hangers are good etc. etc.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Tail light question
I installed 83-84 lights on my 85 Cougar when the right outer plastic lense was stolen.  I had to remove 2 of the studs out of the six or eight if I remember right.  I also had to lengthen the wires for the backup lights in order to get the connectors on the bulbs.

I'm sure similar problems going the other way.  Newer to older vice older to newer in my case.  I didn't have to cut or drill the back panel.

I made it work but ChuckW is right they will not seal properly.

Niki,

I enjoy station wagons (estates) a lot and it became quite obvious to me that the UK, Netherlands and Norway have a lot of American station wagons.

France seems to have quite a few Ford Mustangs.

With the gasoline prices continually going up I was suprised at the sheer number of American cars,  large ones at that, having such a following in Europe.

Glad to have you here.
