General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Post your 2012 Tbird/Cougar TO-DO list
Quote from: DVP;378283
Well to start Im pulling it out of storage and getting it tagged.

Now if i can keep my automotive-ADD under control here is my current plans.
  • 351- GT40 (Non P) heads, Cam & Intake (TBD)
  • MAF conversion
  • Equal Length Shorties
  • Possible C-4 swap. Trying to figure out if I can make an AOD hold for as cheap as I can swap a decent C-4 in.
  • New lers, HATE Flowmasters, Possible side exit out 1/4 panel
  • 5 lug swap
  • 17" wheels- Stock Mustang is some form
  • 8.8" swap when the 7.5" goes BOOM
  • SFC, possibly jack rails
  • Put interior back together
  • Replace bumper skin with TC skin
  • Swap hoods
  • New shocks, Possibly struts
  • New springs
  • 13" Cobras - If things go right

Im ready to throw some money at this car. Id like to get it moving under some decent power, then start dealing with body issues. Im shooting for 350/350 but all i want is 300s.

Honestly if I can get the suspension semi sorted out (wheel/brakes included) it will be a more successful year than the last 2 or 3

Lounge / Help My Local Race Team Win a Sponsorship
The local SHO ChumpCar team here is trying to win a $10,000. The video explains everything, but if anyone deserves this its them. They are as competitive as a race team come, and as nice and helpful as a neighbor could be in the pits. After working the pits at the Iowa race this year you really see how expensive it can get.

You can vote everyday once. PLEASE help us win this!

Engine Swapping / FI 429/460 options
The thing for me is I'm never really set on what motor I want to put in it. 302,351,429,460,LSx,3.0/3.2 SHO, I am always wanted to do something different. I think a BB would be a cool start to the train of motors I'll probably end up swapping in this car over the years.

On that note, that is why I don't want to do a hack job. My biggest thing no matter what motor I put in is making everything function as if it was factory equipped.

I like the idea of the 4 barrel TB. Although honestly stock hood or not doesn't bother me. At some point I will need to start cutting the wants and needs. Although this is my only project now I would really like to keep it on some sort of budget. That might be the deciding factor for what I end up going with.

Now the big issue comes to how do I get it run? What computer, tuning, turner all that.

I'm going to guess that my AOD and 7.5" life are limited behind a BB. So C4 or C6? I would like to retain some sort of driveablility.

Engine Swapping / FI 429/460 options
Been throwing around the idea of BBF for the Cougar now that my track car project is sold.

What I want to accomplish is a factory quality install, fuel injection, and retain A/C and have all my gauges (digital) work as before. As far as bolt ons I'll handle that as parts come up.

I'm open to suggestion for anything to make this as simple and easy as possible. Depending on how easy it is to go carb and still retain everything for a later FI swap I might be open to that.

Lounge / Anyone else get the car itch at this time of year?
Quote from: thunderjet302;374700
Does anyone else get the itch to find another Fox at this time of year, ie the winter? Every year around this time I get the bright idea that I need another Fox body T-bird to go with the one I already have. I poke around auto trader, cars. com, ebay, and craigslist looking for one. I might find one or two but they are usually rusted out POS at this point. I then realize that buying another one of these cars is a stupid idea. I even have a list as to why.

1. I have a 1.5 car garage, which the T-bird stays in. I have three cars at home right now. The other two are in the wide part of the drive way in front of the garage. I can't house the other "toy" in the garage.

2. Being that I can't park another toy in the garage it will have to sit outside. This means it will be difficult to keep clean.

3. If I have a "toy" sitting outside then I'll have to move the other cars down the driveway. Then I have to play "musical cars" to get out of the driveway :hick:.

4. My 24 year old T-bird is in really good shape because I maintain it. If I buy another one there is no guarantee that it won't need a bunch of work and/or be a huge money pit.

5. Why the hell do I need two old cars to tinker with? One should be enough.

Needless to say I talk myself out of buying another Fox every winter. I'm in the process of doing it right now :rollin:. My logical thinking brain talks me out of it every time. Does anyone else have this problem after the fun car has been put away for the winter?

I get that itch every few days. Lately its been a Cherokee, Scrambler, Bronco, Toyota, B-Series, or most recently 60's Cadillacs. Usually I find one then realize I have 2 project cars now and no money or space for another.

Miscellaneous For Sale/Wanted / 1991 SHO Track Car/Project
Not really. I have black door panels, mocha seats, black console, and that's about it.

At this point it would be easier to find a new dash to swap in than rerouting all the wires in a shell.

This car is STRIPPED. 2 seats, steering wheel, gauges, and a shifter is all there is for interior. Car weighs in at 2980lbs. It could be a competitive AutoX or road course car as it sits, little more work and it would be very competitive. My interest has just ran out, Im ready for a 4WD project. I realize there is little interest here for this so Im not going into too much detail. If someone is honestly interested I will answer any questions.

If it doesnt sell by Spring, Im getting the sawzall out.

Will have more current pics soon.
