Lounge / Hmm this is interesting
The 2.7 is being used in the 15-up F-150 and Edge Sport already, so it won't be an unproven engine by the time the refreshed Fusions come out.  I've had a Fusion SE FWD 1.5 Ecoboost as a work demo, very comfortable and quiet car with plenty of room.  The new Sport should be a great performer.

87 is the first year for 11" brakes with the narrow spindles on the Turbo Coupes and 5.0L Mustangs, not 88.  All of the aftermarket performance struts for Fox Mustangs are either going to be the narrow 87-93 5.0L size, or "universal" 79-93 with oval upper strut to spindle holes and some spacers to be used on 87-93 spindles, which isn't a problem.  Years ago on my 87 Mustang I used some Konis that were for the 79-86 application by simply slotting the upper holes and making 1/8" spacer plates (total difference in width is 1/4").  The spacing between the two holes is slightly different as well on 79-86 vs. 87-93, hence the need for slotting the upper hole.

As mentioned, the 94-04 SN95 struts share the same lower mounting dimensions as the 87-93 11" brake spindles.

Yes, the SN95 arms are the same length as 87-88 Bird, but the 99-04 arms have a revised contour that allows more steering lock to be applied before the wheels will rub on the arms.  I've got a set of 03 Cobra arms to go on mine as well.

Suspension/Steering / Rear springs, what's everyone using?
All of the SN95 rear springs are obsolete from Ford now, I checked the various part numbers earlier this year after buying my TC.  Might be some dealers in the U.S. that still have some on the shelf, I can't do a U.S. dealer search from up here in Canuckistan.

Suspension/Steering / Front Wheel and Tire Fitment - Dimensions and Setups
After searching a bit, figured this might be an appropriate thread to ask my question in ...

I'm looking at various aftermarket wheels for my 88 TC, and am wondering what you guys are doing for offset on the front with 8.5" or 9" wide to keep them in the fenders.  Guessing that I would need at least 6" of backspacing, any comments?  I do have some late SN95 arms to go on that will offer a bit more clearance at lock.  Will also likely be adding some MM caster plates, and putting in additional negative camber ... maybe set around -1 to -1.25 degrees, which helps to tuck the top of the tire in the fender a bit as offer more front grip.

Should mention that I really don't like to have the front wheels and tires hanging out the fenders as can happen quite easily with these cars.  Am willing to run different front and rear sizes and / or offsets to keep them tucked in.

Suspension/Steering / 1994-98 stang struts
Fox 5.0 and SN95 struts will not fit over the 10" brake spindles ... the strut mounting tab is thicker on those.  You can put struts from a 10" brake car on the 11" or SN95 spindles using spacers or washers to take up the slack, but not the other way around.

Lounge / Irrational case of the wants for this Continental
Went by the same way coming home today, in the daylight I could see the car better.  Actually full vinyl roof, and it has the droopy air-ride happening too. LOL

If I want to cruise around in a mid-size luxury 4 door from that era, I can always borrow my father's super minty 77 Monarch Ghia:



This was originally a Ford Canada executive car that has pretty much every option you could get on that car, including the 4-wheel disc that were shared with the Lincoln Versailles.

Driving to work taking the "back country" route, I pass a used car lot that sometimes has 80s / 90s somewhat offbeat or less common cars there, recently saw a decent looking Porsche 928.  So this morning when I go by, sure enough there's an 84-87 Continental, complete with the padded half length carriage vinyl roof, sort of a gold and brown combo.  Funny to see that car appear there so soon after this thread was started.

Suspension/Steering / Quad shock bolt size?
So the brackets to the chassis take an M12 coarse (1.75 pitch) x 30 mm, 9.8 grade.  The hardware number is still available from Ford and reasonably priced up here in Canuckistan, but I don't have access to the U.S. pricing ... number is N605933-S2.  The quad to axle bracket, couldn't find any dimensions on the T-Bird number, but I did find them for Fox Mustang which I assume will be the same.  M12 coarse x 70 mm for that one, available as Ford hardware # N606084-S426, also 9.8 grade, and the locking nut to go on it is N800937-S437.  There is still some stock showing available in Ford U.S. depots if you want to get the OEM fasteners.  But I imagine that you could get the right sizes at Lowes or Home Depot too.
