Electrical Tech / installed CB today. What do you think?
Ok, here is all the antenna views on my vehicles.

I installed the CB speaker where the clock used to be.

The Cougar and the Mountianeer have President HR2510's and the F250 has a President Lincoln

So let's see a pic of your car with your huge antenna on it :mullet:

I got a willson 1000 antenna mounted on the trunk. If it's still light out when I get back I'll snap a pic. On my pickup I have a 102" stainless steel whip antenna and on my wifes mountianeer  another willson 1000. I don't use them very often, but it's there if I want to.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 3000 stall non lockup AOD converter for trade
without lockup you don't get that huge RPM drop from 2nd to 3rd and it still uses torque multiplication in 3rd and 4th. the drawback is you lose about 1-2 mpg highway and the trans runs hotter (you will need a trans cooler).

The AOD doesn't really have lockup, it has a direct drive that is used for 3rd and 4th. If you look at a AOD with the converter off you will see a small shaft in the middle which is the direct shaft then the next one is the impeller driven shaft.

The only reason i want to retain lockup is because I drive this car 114 miles a day.

Drivetrain Tech / Mercury Grand Marquis AOD into Mark VII?
Quote from: DMC24guy;319739
The AOD on my 88 Mark VII has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse, and therefore it is time for a new one. I have obtained an AOD out of a Mid-80's Mercury Grand Marquis. From what I have read on a Lincoln Mark VII specific Message board, in order to swap that transmission into my car, I need to change the shifter linkage (Column to Floor Shift) and that since the tranny out of the Marquis is 1" shorter than the stock AOD in the Mark VII, I need to purchase what is known as a "Driveshaft Spacer". Is this information correct? And if so, does anyone know where to obtain such a spacer? I can't seem to track one down for my application anywhere online.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Just switch the linkage tube from you're old trans to the new one. It isnt that hard and yoy can even do it with it in the car.

This is the spacer that will work http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SDA-555-7707/ .

I still can't figure out how the pushrods punched through the rocker arms. The stock rocker arms look pretty sturdy.

Maybe if the pushrods were too long they might damage the rockers.

If the pushrod is clogged it will ware through a rocker in no time.
Also if you have some nice heavy valve springs and frequently rev and hold it at 6k you could damage a rocker. (Ask me how I know? LOL)
