Mustang Fuel Line Repair May 17, 2013, 12:01:49 PM As i posted a long lost musting owner showed up at the shop with a fuel leak. Everyone knows where this happens at the back of the tank where the lines are mounted. So first the return line that is the easiest no fittings involved. Rip out all the bad lines back to the middle of the front door about 12" past the black poli coating. Then cut the line then bend it to follow the rockers going back. Then cut the line from the tank about 6" from the braided portion of the line going in to the tank. Snake a piece of regular fuel hose through the large hole near the lower control arm and all the way up to the big hole in the frame rail near the tank. Then soak the end of the 1/4 inch fuel line with carb cleaner and the cut end of the steel line and force it on about 2". Then 2 spring clamps and the tank side is dun. Use some brackets and TECH SCREWS to mount it to the frame. Do the same at the opposite end under the door. PRESTO a line fit for a king and also run inside the frame. I have dun many this way and it works great. NEXT THE FEED LINE stay tuned! Quote Selected

Mustang Fuel Line Repair Reply #4 – May 17, 2013, 09:11:48 PM now, how do you splice the.hard plastic lines? Quote Selected
Mustang Fuel Line Repair Reply #5 – May 17, 2013, 10:52:24 PM I have a line kit that does that. But the Mustang does not need it. 90% of the line is hard and just a couple of inches are NYLON. I eliminate all the connections on the return as posted above and now for the feed lines and filter. Quote Selected
Mustang Fuel Line Repair Reply #6 – May 17, 2013, 10:56:28 PM to splice the hard lines,,go to lowes and get the barbed fittingsyou "want" to get the larger barbed inner diameter fitting as possible. There will be one barbed fitting that will ~more or less~ slip on easily.the next size up is the one you want. If you use the smaller one, you will have a bottle neck of CFM....I ended up just letting both ends of my son's lines drain emptyi got the heat gun and warmed up each end one at a time and slipped them on the barbed fitting.i added a small hose clamp and sinched it even tighter by reheating some more.all better now. Mustang Fuel Line Repair Reply #7 – May 17, 2013, 11:03:37 PM I also have Hard line to plastic hard line to BARB. Nylon to barb so on and so forth. Here is the first step in making the system better. Drill and make a slot on the filter bracket. It will be moved to one of the GAS TANK STRAPS. Here it is mounted under the gas tank strap and a TECH SCREW. This location is much better than the stock location. Here is the new line set that feeds the new filter. By the way you will need an explorer filter for this to work. Here is the feed side hooked to the explorer filter. Also remember to put a bubble on the line you gut backBelow is the finished instillation with a 90* fitting connected to the feed hose to the engine!!! Mustang Fuel Line Repair Reply #8 – May 17, 2013, 11:19:19 PM you know,,,why not just move it up under the engine bay as a viable mod.to be honest i would be tempted to change mine more due to its new and convienient location.sure it would require 3' or so of more hose to groom in the right location along the pass side but at least its now within reach of the normalcy of all the PM work done under the hood.savvvy?what say you?/ Quote Selected
Mustang Fuel Line Repair Reply #9 – May 17, 2013, 11:22:09 PM Some do that but i like the engine compartment as clean as possible. But moving it up front is an option!! Quote Selected
