Title: Need help identifying MAF sensor..
Post by: GDawg148 on September 01, 2015, 02:04:06 PM
I didn't think this was a stock sensor, but you guys tell me.  Wouldn't it say Ford on it?

Who made it? Will it work fine? A friend gave it to me.

I have no idea. Perhaps an aftermarket part. The ONLY factory Ford MAF sensors and housings that are plug a play with a Fox MAF computers are the 55mm housing with the F1ZF sensor (stock on 89-93 5.0 Mustangs) and the 70mm housing (Either the housing stock to 94-95 Mustangs or the housing stock to 94-95 Thunderbirds/Cougars. You can swap the F2VF sensor into the Thunderbird housing so it will work with the factory stock Mustang airbox and tubing.) with the F2VF sensor (all 94-95 Mustang, 92-94 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car). Any other factory Ford MAF will not work without a tune.

Aftermarket MAFs (C&L, PRO-M, PMAS) are calibrated to an injector size by manipulating the signal sent to the computer to scale the airflow for larger injectors. Ford programs the injector size into the computer NOT the MAF. Hence why you can't take a MAF off of a Lincoln Mark VIII with 24lb injectors and expect it to work with 24lb injectors on a 5.0 Mustang.

If you are running 19lb injectors I do happen to have a 70mm MAF with the F2VF sensor sitting in my garage. PM me if you want it as I have no use for it right now.

To my friends knowledge, he pulled it off of an 89 5.0 and its stock. So it must be an F1ZF?

Without a Ford part number, it's no doubt aftermarket...

Do you guys think its aftermarket but to be used in place of stock? As in it performs the same as stock?

As long as it's the same as the stock one it should. Since there is no part number it's hard to tell.
