Its getting pretty hard to get much choice in 15 inch tires anymore, and I can get decent 235/50/17 tires for the same price. The overall size is very close to the same as my 235/60/15 I'm running now.
This leads to my question. You guys running 17" wheels, did you notice much ride quality degradation when going to the lower profile tires, such as the ones I mentioned?
Mine already doesn't ride that soft now, cut front stock springs and Tokico Blue shocks all around.
Alright guys. Here we go, gonna prob have lots of questions as I go.
I got a set of used GT40P heads, unknown mileage, pulled from yard.
I will be putting them in my 88 cougar. (stock block with 122K miles on it) I am going to pull the engine to address a bad rear main seal leaking.
I will be adding a HO cam also, along with the Explorer upper and lower intakes.
I'm trying to get this car back into daily driver status with a little more power.
Money is very tight on this project. I plan on getting either Alex's springs or the TrickFlow kit. Any advise on that?
What is the bare minimum I need to do with the heads? Can I skip a valve job and magnaflux?? Put new brass blockoff plugs or leave alone? I plan to just use the stock rocker arms, (Cougar,Mustang or Explorer) or does it matter??
Will my stock Cougar pushrods work?
Can I reuse my Cougar valve lifters?
I plan on putting a new oil pump in block while out. What else?
Do I buy head gaskets based on the block or the heads?
I know a lot of questions, just trying to get parts budget and figure things out, and need your guys help. Thanks.
Wondering if anyone had a good (not letting the hood raise when closed) passenger hood hinge. My car is a 88, black would be great, but any color. I'm tired of my hood looking jacked up, when closed. I assume a new hinge is the only fix??
Need help guys. Long time issue that is worsening. Have 88 GT Mustang spindles up front with GT brakes. I have always had some clicking/thumping noise passenger side since the upgrade. Passed it off, cause it was minor. It is only when touching the brakes and letting off. No noise otherwise, on bumps etc. No noise in reverse ever, only forward, a clunk when I hit the brakes and a clunk when I let off. It is worsening. I need some advise or where to look.
I have a new rack, new outer tie rods, new Tokico struts, new calipers and brakes. Have original control arms and ball joints. Shop said ball joints were fine when I had the car aligned after lowering the front end (cut stock springs to lower about 1.5")
Ive always seemed to have some play in passenger brake caliper, since upgraded. Ive even replaced the caliper and the problem persists. Could it be a caliper mounting hardware problem? The were different head size from the drivers side when mounted?
Looking for any help here. I dont want to take it to the shop.
Back in my old neck of the woods growing up. Never saw this thing around though. What to you guys think of the price? Brother and I figured maybe $10-12K????????
Strange problem.... Digital dash, gas gallons left showing 8 gallons, but the mid section is flickering/out on the "8" making it look like "0". Any advice on this?
Do I need to switch out the whole left side digital piece??
