Missing auto and dimming head lights, moon/sunroof, keyless entry and a few other minor things.

Has the power recline, antenna and a few other cool things though.

I'm guessing that cable going over the top of the dizzy is a lazy hood mach cable fix?

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

It's likely a 10x better buy than the low mile 3.8 T-Bird for $15K, or whatever it is..

I believe that's an old-school alarm system. It uses a key just like the ones used on cola machines. Been awhile since I've seen one of those in action...

Heh.....I bet it's a hood lock. I see a box surrounding it, might be an alarm too..but my black '88 XR7 stick car that I bought in LI (I see this thing is in Walden...yup good ol' downstate...) had a lock just like that, same spot. Corrugated conduit with a black rubber coating, running all the way to the radiator support. Had a little magnetic key box under the driver's seat. I still have that box there. The car also had a separate alarm system. I was told the guy that built it lived in Queens. What a way of life....
