Stock *Ford* 5.0 water pump?

Long story short, get what you pay for. Or....I dunno. But I'd like an original NOS or ford replacement part water pump with the good old logo stamped on it and everything. I found one on ebay but the seller lists it as good for a 90-93 mustang, no mention of 80-anything model years. It does seem to have a different, "newer" perhaps styling to it that doesn't look just right. I dont know what would have changed with the acc. bracket setup, but if I'm gonna do it right might as well do it RIGHT and get exactly what I'm looking for if I can.

Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...

A '90-'93 "Mustang" (( what the seller refers to it as)pump will fit an '87/'88 with no issues at all. On parts like water pumps,I wouldn't want an NOS part. Even though it would be new,it's still over 20 something years old. I have an Autozone water pump on the Sport and it hasn't given me any troubles what so ever. The last one lasted 4 years before I sold the engine,and it was still working great. I make those pumps and every other part earn their place on the Sport.

I've always got 4+ years out of them till they piss out that little hole.  I think with an electric fan you would get more out of one too.. Less stress on it without the fan

After 4 years,mine was still good. I've never had to swap out an Autozone water pump after I installed one.

same here, i bought a new pump from my new motor mostly cause i was too lazy to clean the gasket surface and it was dirty looking lol

If you have to have a Ford part, get one from a dealer. Might even be a warranty too, for when it does go bad.

i don't use autozone anything.. that duralast  can't take much abuse.. their electric fuel pumps are epic trash.. 4 of them in 1 year compared to 1 that's lasted me 5 years from advance and still going strong.. and if their alt's get wet, forget it, they're trashed.. i only deal with advance and rock auto for oem parts

I ended up just settling for the new piece a parts store had. It's the same shiznitty one I had, only this time I wirebrushed off the rust from the inside of the rear cover that was ALREADY THERE, just like the other one (well, don't know when it occured technically I guess) used a different set of gaskets I instead of the brittle thin POS that the thing came with (what did this thing sit in it's warehouse for 15 years!!!??) rubbed wd40 in those closed sections that are just hollowed out and serve no purpose so THOSE wont get corroded this time, and then sealed everything together and put it on the timing cover with permatex grey high torque sealant on either side of each gasket, really meticulously. Looks great, and the lower radiator hose port won't corrode to hell after ONE year this time because the  car won't ever even see a drop of water on...in...anywhere near it henceforth. Oh yeah, that first replacement one had a hairline crack on two of the bosses the mounting bolts go through.

I just wanted to see all my clean accessories on my clean painted engine :( lol. I felt at the same time like I might as well try to get a Ford piece, these ones aren't even reman's, they have this wavy-looking raised symbol, God knows where it's made. I actually I think I know exactly where. No one will ever notice but I'll know. I belong with the barbie fashion show freaks in the  concours d'elegance LOL. I can't help it I want everything perfect. Someday if I'm motivated I'll find an NOS pump.

Not saying I only want ugly parts on mine...but no sense in polishing turds, either. lol

True, true. And for what it's worth in that year the first new pump never squealed or anything, still was tight so it serves its purpose.
