that hurt!

As many of you may recall I’m building a house..
Yesterday after using a #16 nail to pull staples out of the end of a 2x4 and slipping and stabbing myself between the thumb and index finger of my left hand, I needed to put 12 steps down off my deck. I have a 2x12 notched for the steps, I need to add a 2x4 to this for strength (both approximately 12 foot long) I have this 2x12 in place and begin nailing the 2x4 to it. I get to the lowest nail and it’s a bit wobbly so I brace the left side with the side of my foot.(while nailing from the right with a galvanized #16 nail and a very large hammer) All is going well, the 2x’s are stable now.. one final swing of the hammer to drive that baby home and I learn that a #16 nail is about ½ longer than a pair of 2x’s are wide… out the left side it comes, through my shoe and into the side of my left foot.

Pics?

Sounds facinating to me. Where on your foot did the nail enter? How deep did it go? (I'm figuring 1/4" or less) How did you get your foot un-nailed? Did you pull it off yourself or did you need help? How loud did you scream? And did it sound like a girl?

Just hackin' on ya, man. I hate when I have thos "DOH!" moments. Can't count how many times I've stuck myself with the end of an RG6 coax that's been stripped. Or stapled my finger. Or ... Well, you get the picture.

You want a picture of my foot?
You are one sick puppy Mayhem.
Entry point.. right against this bone on the side directly above the arch on the inside of my foot.
Dunno how deep.. it's a puncture, not like I can see inside.. 1/4 sounds probable, through the shoe against the bone.
Un-nailed by pulling about the same time as the girlie scream laced with profanity.

safety first
Ive been building houses for 20 years and only shot myself once with the nailer.
I was alone at the time putting trim on a porch
nailing away to finish up the job when the nail hit a knot and went into my thumb.

fortunately i had a pair of cutters in my pouch to cut the nail (i was attached you see) and did i mention working alone? and the customer was out of town?

after that day I always keep hands and feet clear from danger.
but accidents still do happen

I hope your ok
