riding like a gangster, ricer, etc

my step dad keeps nagging me about sitting in my car like a Mexican (please dont take offense he's old.)  more like a ricer seating position in today's terms.  and i admit i do sit reclined.  but my shoulder is above the window so i dont get where he's coming from.  with the electric seats. i raise the front of the front, lower the back back, adjust the back of the seat, and im off.  i hate the look driving my car with my shoulder in the middle of our huge window so i set myself where im at the b pillar yet high enough to see.  infact i never have any problems with visibility, the 87 88 windshield is raked pretty good too (small)  i mean i have no tint, you think i want to be seen sitting lower than the dash?!??!?!

how do you guys sit in your seats?  if you got electric post up the adjustments, i'll give it a try.  even if your 50 i'll try your seating arrangement.

I sit pretty high, and close to the pedals (I'm only 5' 4")...I hate laying back in the seat; it's very uncomfortable, especially when trying to shift.

Is that party like a Rockstar? I guess not as I read on ! LOL I say sit as you want as long as its comfortable and you can SEE GOOD very little movement to see everything there is to see out the winder! The  way you have your adjusted seems about right. Higher in the front knee area and lower in the rear butt area. Then the back not straight up and down but laid back some. Then not all the way back but most of it. I'm 6' 1" gotta have room for the and with these arms I can still reach the short throw pro5.0 shifter with ease in all gears. So sit like you want. Each to there own. Let the old man(father) bitch, moan and complain. They have there way and most of the time we have our way. Not always the same but work for both of us.

And I forgot to add this earlier so here goes! Especially if you sit close to the wheel and drive a FORD product this makes me think you should scoot back some. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOWZGLue_B8 Show that to the old man and see what he's got to say!

Seriously?  Is that what's important?  :flame:

Do you have matching outfits for when you drive certain cars too?

I put myself in the position that puts me where I can see everything easily AND be able to control/reach everything.

I drive "laying down" is what my girlfriends Mom calls it. My seats are not comfortable anyways so I sit how I want. I can see what I need to, I know where my car is, thats what matters.

In the truck however I sit upright a little more. I think it is because the seat is higher off the floor.

As long as your comfortable and in a safe viewing postion who cares how you sit?

Did you say you sit lower than the dash? That doesnt sound safe

Yeah I really can't see the point in laying down. I think the exact same thing when I see it..."Oh look mr gangsta here thinks he's hot stuff" and I immediately make all kinds of judgements. Typically I'm right the guy gets out of the car...painfully obvious hes a big toolbag etc etc. Again with the probable exceptions of you two :D  But it doesn't look smart to me and I personally would find it highly uncomfortable.

My shoulder ends up being probably 6-8 inches forward of the B-pillar. Nothing crazy, don't look like grandma or nothing, but I also don't look like Im "hiding" or anything. ;)

I used to drive like that all the time but lately I like sitting up. And I never drive like that in my Altima, its just not a cool car.

i got the front up and the back down so i feel when i have to brake hard.  my shoulders are about the same as the dash.  my wheel doesnt have a airbagas most of you dont either.  i could rest my elbows on the wheel.. im 6'1 so my seat for a smaller person could be like all gangster, but other than that im good as far as headroom.  i would actually want the same thing in another car.  i feel like the seat of the pants is the most imporntant, plus my seats after 160,000 miles ao i sink in.  plus i like to be comfortable.  if i sat my up on some bumps i'd hit my headl.

I was driving the other day and I actually measure the space I had left by moving my hand from my head to the ceiling. I have a good 5-6 inches at least. I stopped after I realized I probably looked really dumb doing it in traffic. lol

sitting like that just make you a "target" for cops. i DO support police profiling. no offense.

i can usually tell when i ll be able to out drive somebody. its usually when they are sitting like that.

i actually sit tight to the car, probably too much for most people.
