networking windows ME and XP

Got a question:

I have a seven year old HP (porn box) and my laptop connected to a hub.  Can I network these?  I've been having trouble setting it up.  Any pointers would be appreciated.

Of course you can.  I prefer to map network drives instead of browsing another machines shares.. seems to work smoother..

First - buy a copy of Win98SE on ebay and toss the Windows ME. That wil make life easier.

I was going to suggest he hand himself but this works, only thing to remember is to be patient. ME was more of a non network OS, but if they are running similar work group names, and maybe there own static IP's it would lessen the headache, that may or may not follow.

I agree with CougarSE.  I have my mp3s on my machine mapped throughout my network.  Like someone said, get rid of ME (mistake edition :punchballs: ) and either go up to 2000 or 98SE.  It shouldn't be "hard" to network the PCs either through a router, or ICS (internet connection sharing).
