well some clown sideswiped my bird a couple of monthes ago. totaling out driver rear quarter, creasing the door and bending the door a-pillar. after dealing with this  I've lost interest in it. so my loss some one elses gain.

some may remember my post from this time last year when I pulled the 3.8 and rebuilt it from the crank up. motor has NEW, all bearings, crank, cam pistons, rods.
block was machined and cyl. honed.
throttle body was completely rebuilt with new injectors
all emissions were gutted
heads were ported and polished
new alternator,plugs,wires, distributor,cap ignition module.
new radiator, power steering pump, rack and pinion.
new springs front and rear and new air shocks in the rear
new fuel pump
new brake pads up front
complete rebuild on the tranny.
there is less than 5000 miles on all of the above

rolling tires are firestone winterforce. with less than 1000 miles on them, mounted on the stock poly wheels.
also will include a complete set of aluminum slots with firestone INDY500 tires better than half tread life left.

really not interested in parting out, dont have the time or space.
$1000 takes it.lots of potential left in it for a parts car.

User Rides / winter rebuild
so the rebuild has begun, pulled the motor about a month ago and have been working onit in my free time. 2 trips to the machine shop with the block,1st time to ream the ridge, hone the cylinders and press in new cam bearings.2nd time to have them pull a scratch out of a cyl. after a honing stone broke and scarred the cyl.(should of left well enough alone)
all new internals,crank,cam,pistons,rods,lifters
heads have been ported and polished, new springs and valves.

I sped the smog and AC components and now have the motor back in,hopefully will have it wired and running in the next day or two.[/IMG]

Lounge / Have I lost my mind????????
So I spent 2 hours and $1700 at autozone today and keep asking myself is this thing really worth it. $1700 to rebuild the 3.8 and that doesn't include any machine shop work that it may need.(hopefully none)

I know some will ask how I could of spent that much to do a rebuild,but..... let me say that the only thing that I am keeping is the block and heads. EVERYTHING else is getting replaced, crank, cam, pistons, valves, everything. and thats just the internal.Everything external is getting replaced to,plugs, wires, distributor,TPS,ISC,injectors(tbi rebuild)

plus I'm replacing the radiator, power steering pump and lines, the rack and tie rods.

but at this point I gotta think would it of been cheaper to do a V8 swap.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / intro from WI

been lurking around for awhile and finaly decided to stop in an introduce myself.

currently driving/rebuilding an '85 base 3.8 tbird.
this is my fourth bird and beat myself when I think about my previous 3(a '78 351m with t-tops,a '83 tc 5spd and a '87 5.0 5spd.)

all were great cars but being in the land of beer, cheese and heavily salted roads all came to one drastic end or another.

so last year I came across my current bird, 78k org. miles unmolested
and best of all rust free for the most part. and felt like I stole when the owner said 800 takes it.

so now the fun begins. starting next week I'm pulling the motor and rebuilding from the bottom(porting and polishing heads and intake while I have it apart) and sending the tranny in for a rebuild.

so anyways I came across this sight while looking for modification ideas and parts for my bird .
