Miscellaneous For Sale/Wanted / V6 Engines free to a good home
Ok - I've been served on the foreclosure and things are a'changin'. This stuff is free. I am NOT shipping it. Do not have any pictures at the moment either, I used one of those cheap one use cameras to take some and we'll see how they come out next week. Basically they look like used parts. The engines are in various stages of assembly parts.

Come get them before 25 May 2010 and they're yours. If not, they belong to the bank and all bets are off.

The scoop...
-----------------------------------------------------------
I've gotten rid of all my V6 vehicles and need to clear out some parts. They're located in zip code 32407 - near Vernon, FL. Show up with a truck and I'll drop them in the back of it for you.

1. Complete T'Bird SC engine from pan to M90 blower to include wiring and radiator/intercooler. Removed from a 90 I think but I bought it already out. The guy I bought it from claimed 40k since rebuild. Consider it a rebuild

2. SC longblock. Needs rebuild - free. I've got a set of heads for it too.

3. 4.2L F150 core engine. Hydrolocked. Have a stock rotating assembly ready to use in the rebuild. Also have a Mustang intake but not sure it's complete. Local machine shop quoted me $600 to do the rebuild if I broke it all down. I'd consider that a starting number. Free

4. two stock cloth seats from a 94 Mustang ragtop. Not that good, not that bad. Free

5. Rear seat from a 2000 Mustang coupe. Gray leather. Free.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Again I'm not shipping this stuff... requests for costs to ship will be ignored. It's on the floor of my garage in Vernon, FL. Best if you have a 4wd truck the driveway is getting a little rougher every time it rains.

Body/Appearance/Interior / 87TC -> 86 V6 Interior swap feasible?
I've got a heater core to do... how much work would I be adding to put the dash from an 87 TC back into my 86? Is it just disassemble/reassemble or are the mods to make? Is the wiring plug and play or will I need to mod the harness beyond what the digital to buttstuffog guage conversion calls for?

I've got the seats and console covered already. I hope...

Misc Tech / 25 mpg typical for a V6? Or is there more?
I just finished the first tankful/week of driving to work after the 86 sat in my yard for 2 years awaiting head gaskets. I'm not complaining at all since I'd been driving my truck at about 15 mpg, but does the 25 mpg in mixed driving sound about right? It's completely stock except the po cut the air pump hose and we left it that way when we reassembled it.

The main reason I'm asking is because that's about the same mileage I used to get in the 93 with essentially the same engine in a much heavier car. Is the multipoint injection that much more efficient than the cfi that it'll 'compensate' for 1000 lbs?

Suspension/Steering / Crown Vic master cylinder and stock V6 brakes?
Has anyone done this? What kind of pedal would I have?

I've kinda got myself in between a rock and a hard place. Promised to loan the car to a friend for a while and while getting it road ready I found out I've got a bad master cylinder. I don't have the time to do the 5 lug swap I'd been planning right now. I'm inclined to just install an Crown Vic master cylinder but I'm afraid the brakes will be a little too 'jumpy' with the stock setup. Am I just wasting time worrying or should I waste the $$$ on a stock master cylinder and wait till I do the swap to change to the bigger one?

Misc Tech / POR-15 or ????
Ok, it's more chemistry than technology but is there anything out there comparable or better?

I've got a TC rear axle that needs some appearance improvements.... and a couple larger projects that will probably use whatever I learn on this one.

Suspension/Steering / 5 lug swap - master cylinder changes needed?
Ok, I've done enough searching and reading that my old eyes are getting more blurry than usual....

It appears I've lined up all the parts I need for a 5 lug swap on my 86 using the Mark VII calipers and the Ford Racing rotor kit up front and a 96 Mustang rear end. Other than the lines, do I need anything else? Like a master cylinder or maybe a proportioning valve?

Tips, hints and free advice from those that have done this are also welcome at this point...

Body/Appearance/Interior / Consoles - this might be a dumb question
I haven't done a thorough search yet and I'm getting ready to leave for a junkyard run....

Will the consoles interchange from year to year? There's an 87 or 88 Cougar in one of the yards I'm visiting today and and it's a blue exterior.  I was originally going to check and see if it's an 8.8 rear end but it just occured to me that it may have a console/seats in it that would match my 86 interior.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Removing interior trim
I'm going to be removing the trim around the speedo/radio area in an 86 T'Bird at the pick 'n' pull. Also going to try and get the digital dash as a spare...

Any hints, tips, tricks, warnings? I think all I'll need is a panel tool and phillips screwdriver?

Lounge / What to grab at the junkyard?
I've found 2 Thunderbirds in a local yard. One's an 86 and the other I'm not sure...

What parts should I be considering pulling other than the interior trim and digital gauges I want for my soon to be running 86?

Lounge / Another wood stove thread...
Didn't want to jack the other thread since I don't actually heat with wood... I just want to add a stove as a supplement even though I live in a usually warm climate. Be nice to have for a couple of months and it's cheaper than replacing the heat pump with geothermal and should pay for itself in a couple of years since I have a ready supply of wood. I've also never been thrilled with the heating capacity of a heat pump. BUT I have a couple of things I can't figure out.

My problems are finding a stove and someone that knows how to install it here in sunny Florida (actually it's Lower Alabama) . I could install it but I'm not sure it wouldn't burn the house down first time I lit it. Where do I find the codes and what would I ask a contractor to verify he really knows what he's doing? Is there a good online source for stoves other than Harbor Freight? All the local hardware stores sell the same make and model stove as HF (Vogelstang) and that's about all I can find. Used market is sparse as you might expect.

Thoughts, suggestions and opinions appreciated...

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Little help in Hampton/NN, Va?
Would anyone be willing to take a look at a car on the Peninsula for me? I think it's what I've been looking for but it's awful pricey to go 1000 miles and decide it isn't worth it and dealers on the phone are a waste of time.
