Suspension/Steering / TC brake upgrade
So I swapped the TC front brakes into my 88 Sport today. I used the TC brake hoses from the caliper to the hard line. I picked up the 1/4 to 3/8 adapers. The drivers side needed the adapter but the passenger side did not. The caliper hose bolted onto the hard line with no issues.

Was this the same for you guys?

Body/Appearance/Interior / buttstuffog clocks
Can I swap the digital clock from my 88 Sport and put in a anolog clock from another older tbird? Is it a plug and play or is there rewiring?

Drivetrain Tech / What gears came in a 88 sport 5.0L
I can't see the tag on the diff. With the aod cruising at 120 km per hour I see 2000 rpm in 4th or OD. My truck with 35" tires and 3:55 rear gears with a E4OD at 120 km per hour does 1800 rpm.

Drivetrain Tech / AOD
88 tbird, 351w swap, stock aod. I did the adjustment for the tv. Now the car does not go into first when stopped at a light. Allways start in second. First drive when I start after a long sit it will start in first but take alot of rpm before it gets out of gear. Then warm second gear starts and sloppy kickdowns to pass on hiway.

Is she done or?

Engine Tech / Engine electrical help
ok. I have done the 5.8L swap and have the car running. I am having issues with the A9L/mass air swap. I did the pin swap and tapped the other wires. My problem is over fueling at idle flooding the engine to not restart. I adjusted my timing to 12 degrees BTDC. When I did that I shut down the car, tightened the distributer clamp, then tryed to restart. It would not start. Waited an hour then it restarted. So i tryed to adjust the tps and I found that all 3 wire to the tps were at 5 volts. I dissconnected the tps and checked voltage at the harness side. Orange wire was 5v, green was 4.88V and black/white was 0.05v. So in other words the car is thinking it is at full throttle when starting.

Anyone have trouble with this?

I am also haveing a hunting idle too..

Oh and with the tps unplugged I went on a road test and the car went really nice. Lots of power. This the tps plugged in I bogg and lose alot of power.

Thanks guys

Engine Swapping / It's ALIVE!!!!!!!
I got it all put together yesterday except the exhaust. So being who I am, I put in the battery and turned the key. Two cranks and it came to life. Wow is it loud. LOL. I was so happy. The check engine light is on because the o2's are not plugged in yet. Have to extend harness. Pluss I have to do the throttle cable adjustment for the trans. I have to find that somewhere on u tube or here maybe.

But snappy throttle and a loud sweet idle. The stage 1 TFS cam idles pretty smotth with the mass air.

I will get some pics up soon.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Our cars can be a pain sometimes.
I have been completeing the last part of the 351w swap on my tbird. I have to say it has been a challenge to get all the parts in and working. I have had to disconnect alot of stuff and wire in new stuff. Then modify alot of brackets and accesories on the engine. Now I see the o2 wires are not long enough and the r/s o2 sensor is against the bell housing so I can't tighten the x pipe down to the header. Oh well. I will get an exhaust shop to fix that.

Don't get me wrong. I love the challange. I have spent a good part of 15 years being a tech for Ford. It is just when you are doing something that little people have tryed, it is hard sometimes to put your head arround that it is not a drop in affair.

Engine Swapping / Getting closer
The engine is in. The wiring is done for the A9L pcm and mass air conversion. The mass air conversion seemed almost to easy to do. I just have to figur out what to do with the TAB,TAD and EVP solinoids. Then I have to find a belt to fit the 351w with alt and power steering...I still have to get the tune up parts.... I guess another couple weeks and she will hopefully be running.

Electrical Tech / Factory fog lamps
I am doing the TC nose on my car. I heard that there is already the connectors in the harness on my sport for the fog lamps? If this is true where do I look for them? One should be by the head light switch for the fog lamp switch. The other is on the drivers side frame rail?

Thanks

Electrical Tech / Delete A/C. TAD/TAB solinoids
I did the engine swap in my bird and I removed the a/c compressor, lines, condensor and aspoogeulator. I have to pull the heater plenum to replaced the heater core so i figured I would pull the a/c core too and block off the holes. But I was going to ask about the a/c vacuum line. If i disconnect that and cap it of what will happen?

Also I am running no emmissions system on my car and I have no cats. So can I remove the TAB TAD solinoids? Also ther is a third solinoid in the same area  of the passenger strut tower. What is that for?

Thanks guys

Engine Swapping / Fuel line bracket ?
So I have the 351w engine in and I just hooked up the fuel rail, the hard lines down the engine and hooked them to the flex lines comming off the frame. Now the ARP bolts for the head did not come with the stud to mount the fuel line bracket. What did you guys fab up or find that would work for your set up to suport the lines that go down the r/s of the engine?

Engine Swapping / Hood Clearance
Ok. So I got my 351w engine in the car and I put on the upper intake. As I look accross the fender from one side to the other, I have half of the upper intake showing (tb forward). Here is the engine 351w with GT40 aluminum heads and a Professional Products 5.0L upper with 351w lower.

Anyone running a set up close to mine in there tbird? I don't want to buy a cowl hood. I have a TC hood to use.

Suspension/Steering / Power steering pump differences
Ok. 5.8L swap. I got a 5.0L Mustang power steering pump bracket, head support bracket, bracket from water pump to power steering pump bracket and all bolts. Now does my 5.0L thunderbird power steering pump bolt to the Mustang 5.0L power steering pump bracket or do I need a mustang power steering pump?

Drivetrain Tech / AOD exhaust mod
For the guys that put in offroad H or X pipes, I heard the the shift lever that is on the side of the trans coms in contact with the h or x pipe. What mods have you done to correct the problem? I have the trans on my bench at work and was thinking of cuting a piece out of the lever where it is horozontal and then reweld it back on. That way it moves the lever cable attatchment in towards the trans pan a bit. Could move it in a 1/4 inch.

Any ideas?
