$1150 isnt bad at all, especially if it is metallic paint. I would think that to be a pretty good deal if it has alot of dings.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Since its a colour change will he also be doing the door jambs and around the trunk/hood opening? does he remove the trim/emblems? If he does good work I would say thats a good deal.

sounds great, that's what Im going to be getting an estimate on soon, but I want to remain the same color. She's got a few dings and one rust spot that needs to be taken care of soon. Yay for tax returns!!!

If that estimate is too high say hello to new edlebrock heads!

$1150 for a quality job with good materials is not a bad deal at all. I remember paying over $2000 to paint the Torino, and that was 10 years ago. I would make sure to check out some of his other work though as I have seen my share of cars fall victim to horrible paint jobs.

I know my uncle painted a car in like 2 hours... but he managed a bodyshop at a big dealership.  I plan on painting my bird... i got a 6hp craftsman 33 gallon compresser and a HVLP paint gun *may borrow* and then i just gotta finda place to order some cool black paint.  or something.  /me undecided.

I paid $800 for full body work and four layers of DuPont polyurethane on my '86 Cougar about five years ago... I thought it was a lot. The finish was nearly showroom condition, it just had to be buffed out. Then I hit a deer...

The price sounds good to me. See if you cant do a little research into it and try to find another car they have painted....just look at the quality of the finish. Otherwise I'd say go for it.

Mine is getting painted in April... with a decent base/clearcoat job.  It's getting "jammed" and there are a few rust spots that need to be dealt with.  Not too much to skim-coat though.  I'm stripping all the  off the car.  I'm not using the cheap stuff, but I'm not paying for premium stuff either.

$2000...  He said every panel will be straight and it will look good.  Good enough for me :D

I would take that deal for sure, but my car needs a little more body work.  I would say I am going to have to pay like $2500 for a descent paint job in my area.

I know a pro who will spray my car for $100 bucks plus beer just i have to do the rest i.e. cleaning, sanding, bodywork, buy the paint, find a shop, build a booth.  But i think ill probibly do it anyway probibly cost me $850 but im not changing the color just fixing dings, chips, and shiznit. Oh and im repainting my moulding the small part will be body color and the rest i'll leave black not sure about the Silver though
