Body/Appearance/Interior / Door Panel Armrest Repair
I have been wanting to repair the broken tab for the arm rest on my T-Bird for a while now. I finally took the time to figure how I wanted to do it. If you look at the photos I posted you will see the bracket I fabricated out of .035" sheet metal. Also in the photo is the nylon spacer I purchased from a local hardware store which carries an huge variety of hardware. The nylon spacer is 1/2" long and is a perfect length to fill the gap between the bracket I made and the door itself. I pop riveted the bracket to the plastic arm rest panel on the door panel with 1/8" rivets. It took a little time to line-up the bracket to drill the hole for the screw which holds it to the door as it was not centered in the hole in the door panel. I hope this helps others who may want to repair the arm rest tab that is broken on their Bird or Cougar. I am sure this is a typical issue as the plastic gets brittle.

Body/Appearance/Interior / 86 T-Bird window run weatherstrip
I wanted to share with everyone what I've used to replace the worn and cracking weatherstrips on my Bird with. A while back there was a post discussing the fact that JC Whitney had changed the part numbers on their weatherstrip products. I have done a little research to find out what the new numbers are. My Bird has the vent windows and I needed the run seals which are in the channel along the vent window. The previous JC Whitney number was KM810358. The new  number for this seal is F1007. It is listed for an 86 Ranger. I had purchased these seals awhile back but just got the one side installed today and they are a perfect fit. I did not want to post any info until I had checked the fit. I also needed the window run seal for the top and back of the window. I recently made a trip to a local salvage yard and found an 86 Tempo 2dr and pulled the window runs seal. Only one was useable so I grabbed it. It worked out great also. It fit the channel perfect. You do have to do some tpuppies as the seal is longer than needed for a Bird with the vent window. I do not know if this seal would fit a Bird without the vent window. I wanted to verify the year of the Tempo but the door sticker was damaged so I couldn't read the VIN. The year was painted on the car by the salvage yard so I am assuming the yard was correct in marking this car. I am going to replace the dew wipes soon also. I purchased these from JC Whitney before they changed numbers but I did some research to find the new number. The old number was KM819751. The new number is 1369-4. If you search these new part numbers on the JC Whitney website you will see there is a SKU number next to the new part number. This SKU number is the old part number. I hope this helps anyone who is trying to find these seals for their T-Bird or Cougar. I had contacted JC Whitney awhile back and it turns out they were bought out by US Auto Parts. This explains the part number changes.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / 86 3.8L V6 Harmonic balancer
I am in need of a harmonic balancer for my 86 T-Bird 3.8L V6. The rubber has decided to start separating from the balancer. I am not sure what years are the same and will fit my 86. I am looking around locally but have not had any luck yet.
Thanks.

Engine Tech / V8 vs. V6 fuel pump
I am eventually going to swap a 5.0 into my 86 V6 T-Bird. My car has an in tank fuel pump. Is it possible to just swap a V8 pump for the V6 pump or is there more involved? This is going to be a stock 5.0 used for daily driving. Thanks.

Engine Tech / Hey vinnietbird, pulley & bracket numbers
Hey vinnietbird I take it you found some 5.0 accessory brackets and pulleys? Would you be willing to let us know what you got them off of and share the stamping/casting numbers for comparison purposes? I recently found an 86 T-Bird with a 5.0 and got all the brackets and pulleys, among other necessary items for my swap, and am curious to compare stamping/casting numbers for the brackets and pulleys.

Does anyone still sell replacement sheet metal for 83 - 86 T-Birds? I am going to eventually look for front fenders for my 86. I don't need NOS just decent aftermarket is fine.

Engine Tech / What cam to use with MAF EFI
If you were going to use a MAF EFI system on a 289/302 with a flat tappet cam what would be a good choice for a cam? This would be a daily driver that I expect good mileage out of and 5.0 HO type performance. Any suggestions appreciated.

Engine Tech / 3.8L V6 oil level sender leak
The oil level sender on my 86 T-Bird 3.8L V6 is leaking. I don't really care if it works or not so I was thinking of just plugging the hole where the sender goes into. Does anyone know the size of the hole and the thread pitch? Has anyone eliminated their oil level sensor? How did you go about plugging the hole? I haven't really priced out a new level sensor yet. Maybe that would be just as cheap as trying to plug the hole. Any input appreciated.
