Electrical Tech / Turn signal issue
Pulling this from my other thread.

Working on the '80, one of the small issues is that the right turn signals do not "blink".  The lefts work fine, and the rights work when the hazards are on, so I'm trying to sort this out.

Both turn signal circuits work through the same blinker module, so it's not that if one side works.

Could it be an issue with the multi-switch on the column?  Do the blinker modules require a certain voltage to operate properly?  Perhaps there is an issue with the right circuit that is causing too much voltage drop, and thus the blinker module isn't working properly?

Looking for a couple ideas.

Archive & Library (Read Only) / Stock K-Member Dimension Info Thread
OK,
I want to compile some info on stock Tbird and Mustang K-members to help with the continual talking in circles on the subject.

K-Members to be discussed:

-83-86 Tbird/ Cougar
-87-88 Tbird/ Cougar
-79-93 Mustang (non-SVO) (I know there are a couple variations)
-94-95 Mustang
-96-04 Mustang

Dimensions to be noted:

A - Control arm length
B - Width of front control arm mounting holes
C - Width of rearward control arm mounting holes
D - Vertical height between upper and lower frame mounting points
E - Width and orientation of lower frame mounting holes
F - Ball joint to ball joint width (Not track width, as wheel  backspacing/offset will alter this)

These dimensions are to ideally be taken from K-members that are not in a car, and thus are easy to get "accurate" measurements from.

For now, when you post in this thread, list the car the K-member is from that you are measuring and list the dimensions you are reporting.  I'll compile it all later on and make it a sticky.

If you have any other suggestions or additions, please feel free to mention them, but let's keep this thread clear of clutter and heresay and just report actual data.

This should eventually help clear up all the questions and fuzzy, grey areas on what happens when you put different parts together.

Lounge / Marketplace Feedback Reminder
Just as a reminder, we do have a efficient, easy to use method of leaving feedback for classified transactions.

It is suggested that you use the Marketplace Feedback for all general transactions, and to save any extraneous posts for extreme or above and beyond cirspoogestances.  Using the Marketplace Feedback makes it much easier for potential buyers or sellers to track a member's "history" than having to dig through a bunch of old posts.

The details on using the Marketplace Feedback can be found HERE .

Refamiliarize yourself with it if you haven't used it in a while, and if you're new, check it out and see how it works.

Thanks

Chuck

Lounge / EVERYONE READ THIS (Re: Classifieds)
There have been a rash of folks who obviously haven't taken the time to read the rules for the classified section of this forum.

Especially Rule #4.

Read them, know them, especially before you smart off a moderator of that section when they point out an error on your part.  I'll just start deleting ads.

They are rules that EVERYONE must follow to list items for sale here, even me.

Thanks for your compliance.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / Chuck's Want List ('80 XR-7)
I have a few items I'm looking for for the '80 XR-7.  Since I don't have the luxury of being able to roam the junk yards, I was hoping some of those folks who pay regular visits to their area yards could help me out.

Appearance/Trim Items:

- Tail lights - 80-82 Cougar XR-7

- Interior A-Pilar Trim - Driver side specifically - 80-82 Cougar XR-7/TBird

- Hood ornament - 80-82 Cougar XR-7

- Faux Grille insert for front bumper. - 80 XR-7 only.  They dropped it from the 81-82's  Either that or a spare grille, as I might be able to fab up something from that.

- Door panels and switches for power windows. - 80 Cougar XR-7/Tbird. Part of the harness might be good to have as well (just cut where the harness enters the door)

- Black turnsignal and wiper stalks/switches.

Misc Items:

- 94-95 Mustang front spindles.

That's it for the time being.

Email works best.

Thanks!

Lounge / Anyone work @ a dealership?
I'm trying to locate an engine plate for a 3.0 engine from a Ranger/Aerostar.

I can't seem to get any of the Ranger guys to follow up with me or pull an engine/trans apart to ship it to me.

Email me
Thanks

User Rides / Back in an '80 XR-7
Yep, I couldn't be without one evidently.

So I took a trip to Iowa yesterday to retrieve this one.

It's not a Recaro car like the old one, but that's an easy remedy.  The body is in better shape than the old car and with a little tune-up work, this one can be used as a driver until I get into the mods.  It's a 255/C3(?) car I guess.

Miscellaneous For Sale/Wanted / WTB-Engine plate for 3.0 Vulcan engine
Any of you guys who have access to parts/yards, etc, I'm looking for the engine/block plate for one of the 3.0 V6 Vulcan engines.
Rangers or Aerostars would be sources.

If someone who works at a dealer and can get one, that would be cool too.  Not overly concerned if it's an auto or manual one.

Thanks

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / WTB - Interior trim clips
Well at some point I have misplaced the clips that hold the metal trim pieces up that go over the doors.

I get them all painted up and now I can't find the clips :hick:

I can't believe I can't any from the 2 other interiors I have taken apart :punchballs:

There are 2 clips per side IIRC.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Reminder for Classifieds section *READ IT*
As a reminder...

If you place an ad, ANY ad, you must list your location (City AND state) in the ad if it is not listed in your profile location.

You will get one request to add it and you have 24 hours after my request to do so.  I will delete the ad if it has not been taken care of in that time.

Thanks.
