 Dude, running mid-12s in my 4 cyl.....I'm not worrying what a V-8 "sounds" like!!! lol :burnout:

So how much does this "Hot Rod" weigh???

A 4cyl in a gutted tin box doesn't impress me...

Haha, I was waiting for that. It amazes me the power that can be made with the 4 cid. now, it's just nuts! And my buddy's SVO can blow the doors off my V8 Bird. But I still love the sound of an 8 cid.

TurboCoupe50- My cars weighs approx 2500#. Full interior (racing buckets) full back seat, carpet, radio, etc.... No 4 cyl in a gutted tin box here dude. :punchballs:

I happen to like the sound of a V8...don't get me wrong. But if sound is ALL you go by then....sometimes you lose. :burnout:

1Bad88tbird- you get it...some 4 cyl = bad news for some V8s

2500lb... That's still a flyweight...

And yeah you can out run my 5.0(unless I was sprayin'), but with me in the car were talking 3750lbs(been weighed on NHRA scales)...

:rollin: Right....

Its still just a 4 banger Mustang, just like my SHO is still just a Taurus.

Give respect were it is deserved, take lightly to insult.

I meant do I sense some jealousy in the fact that my "gutted tin box", which in fact has a full interior, weighs in at about 2500 lbs. Nothing poking fun at performance. I had 2 1986 TurboCoupes I know they are hefty cars, AND I thoroughly like the ride of one as well.

As I stated earlier, I like the sound of a V8......but you can't always go by sound.
My car sounds like a 4 cyl.....but don"t treat it like one. You"ll likely get beat.

I like your car, don't get me wrong, and it's surely faster than anything I've ever owned...but...some of us are dyed-in-the-wool Tbird nuts lol.

I've owned a 4 banger Stang...sounded like a tractor with a glasspack. I loved that it was small, light, and fast (if you could call a n/a 2.3 fast lol)

But when I bought my first Tbird...I knew I'd found the car I always wanted.

It's ok to be pen 15y, and have a fast car, but don't get pen 15y about the fast car..because there's always a bigger, meaner fish ;)

Basically that's it, I too have owned several(prob 8-9, can't remember the actual count) Fox Stangs and a couple Capri's... All were NA 4bangers except for a '86 GT Stang, a '80 with the 3.3L I6, and a early '79 Capri that had the 2.8 V6... None could compare with the Tbirds I've owned, though the V6 Capri was probably the most comfortable of the lot...

Anyway if I was so jealous of your pressurized 2.3, why would I go to the trouble to swap my TC to a 5.0???  I did the install in '99 and have never looked back... Had the 2.3T setting in the corner till about three years ago, when some guy at the strip  that owned a SVO asked me if I still had the engine... Yep sold it with no regrets...

BTW Currently I have three other '88 TCs around here, none are licensed...

good looking car. I think if you painted the middle front of the hood grey, it would really tie in alot better. Maybe not.

That, or maybe paint the whole hood white? Then it would be more of a true two tone. Maybe not. lol. Either way, awesome car!!

I believe y'all have completely missed the mark on what I am trying to say here.

I belong to a Mustang club and when we all cruise somewhere I tend to be about 3/4 of the way back in line. I do this with intention...I like to hear the "music" all of the V8s in front of me put out. Super charged Cobras, 4.6 GTs, and 5.0s.....all of them have some unique sounds, and I can sometimes pick out who has just "nailed it" by the sound of their car.

My car can take a stock, and even slightly warmed over, 4.6 and 5.0...maybe one day real soon I'll even take a stock S/C Cobra.

My first "new" car at the age of 21 was a 1986 TurboCoupe. I "salivated" everytime I saw one go down the road. I finally saved the money and bought mine...thoroughly loved the car. Only got rid of it (first mistake) just to cut bills before I got married (second mistake), some said I was married to the car. I showed them I wasn't and traded it in...on an Escort GT, (third mistake). Boy, I really showed them!!! Today the wife is gone, but something is telling me if I kept the car, it might be still around. If I was able to track it down today...I would buy it back in a heartbeat.

So yes, I am a T-Bird guy at heart too.

The vehicle I had before this car was a 1984 Ranger, with a built 86 5.0 roller motor in it, FMX 3 speed auto trans, and 4.11 rear. It got 8 MPG on a good day. When gas went through the roof last year, right at $4.00 per gallon here, I said enough is enough, and sold it to buy this car.

The real point I'm making here is IF YOU ONLY GO BY SOUND, YOU'RE LIKELY TO GET BEAT. I have, and when it happens, I take my medicine too.

I hope I cleared this up...not wanting to cause hard feelings here, just making a point.

Thanks...when I first bought the car it was dark dark silver with a flat black hood cutout, representative of the old Mach 1. I liked it and carried it over to the new paint scheme.

The other color scheme I had was the burnt orange you see on a lot of newer cars and a metallic black lower at the bumper line, but again with the metallic black hood cutout. My kids didn't really like that one too much...and it seems that burnt orange is being overused today. I like the paint...matches the uniqueness of the whole car.
