January 26th I said good-bye to big blue. That was my favorite truck so far.
I got a '21 F150 Powerboost. Hard to find a used Powerboost with 6.5' bed, but I found this one with 41k miles. It has the Max Tow package and the 7.2kW connection in the bed. Should be really useful for the pulling the tow behind camper and boondocking.
I ran into one oddity. When I went to logon on the home page it put me into an error that couldn't log on. I then went to a thread and logon went fine. Is that something on my end that needs to be cleared?
FB groups suck for any knowledge archiving or anything worthwhile.
This is my take on FB pages too. I am in a bunch but when I need good info I go the the forums. The search function is better on a forum that on FB from my experience. The only thing that FB may have over a forum is the quick picture posting and quick response that may or may not be correct from some yahoo............... I kinda marked myself as an old person there didn't I?
Sorry I didn't get to check in again until now. A long long time ago on my '79 Bird, I had the timing chain jump a tooth upon starting. Unfortunately I was a couple towns away from home but was able to get it running barely by messing with the timing to limp home.
I would advice dropping the pan to check the screen at minimum or put a new oil pump and pickup in. I am amazed that timing chain lasted that long.
A lot of folks say to only use Ford Motorcraft ignition parts because aftermarket items can be problematic. Use copper plugs. NGK 2238 or Motorcraft SP447 AGSF32C, there's some others that are good too. You'll want to decrease the spark plug gap too according to how much boost you run in the car to avoid spark blowout. I am currently running .028" with 17 psi that is probably lower than it needs to be.
Since you checked everything already, I would spray some starting fluid in it to see if it fire and if it sounds okay. All this cranking do you smell fuel?
Did you say the motor has never been opened? 378k on the nylon coated timing chain gear?
Replace the IHI turbo with one that doesn't make squealing noises (newly developed). Also install the FMIC I have on shelf waiting. This will be after the holidays probably closer to March.
I was having back problems this past year so I didn't do much to the car.
