2 da curb in my thunderbird...

Alright.  I managed a sweet deal today!  Check these out.  Only paid 50 bucks for 'em.

2 V3 extreme 15'' speakers in a box.  The box is so tight if i push on one speaker it moves the other one.  They both have good ohms also.

Man it was tough getting them in the trunk, and now i don't have a spare.  But it was totally worth it.

Not this trunk though... Check out these pictures.

The second one is where i had to "modify" the trunk to make the box fit.

This car use to have hydrulics and they leaked oil and caught on fire in the trunk.  That was more than a year ago and it's still got oil in it.

Trunk isn't good for anything that i want to keep clean.

why do you have it pointed that way? it hits way harder pointed towards the other way.

You'd have to pay me to put those in my car, but I'm picky with my sound.

Sound quality over vibrating your lug nuts off, I've got the sub in my sprint pointed foreward, sounds alot better than vibrating plastic.

good stuff i was thinking of a 15 in the floor box like erics buti dont know and then 2 12s on the sides. i got 1 12 and hopfully 2 10s tomorrow. i got my 12s (back before the wires crossed in the box and fried a channel and blew one sub) and a 400 profiile amp for 50. and those 10s are 50 with an amp.

I like my subs... they're a nice addition to my two factory rear deck spearkers.  The front ones were trashed when i got the car so they're disconnected.

I'm grateful for the speakers.  They may not look pretty and they may not be high end.  But they make me happy.  And that's really all that matters.

My first sub was a 10" sony from walmart and their display amp ($70 total) worked great for a start. /you gotta start somewhere.

I now have an 8" JL that would beat the piss outta the sony, got it used for $75 in a box and couldnt be happier.

Take it from someone who knows though, do not waste your time and money on cheap speakers, save up a couple hundred and buy some good ones right off the bat, if I were to add up all the money i've spent on cheapies... I'd cry. subs are easy to change, speakers 90% of the time are a PITA.

PS when I first got my sony 10" I cut a hole in the cardboard that covers the spare tire in the car I was driving and put it in there, sometimes you gotta improvise! A couple weks later a friend gave me a blown house speaker, a jig saw, can of flat black paint and an afternoon later I was good to go! haha.

I love my subs as well.. That 60 lb Ported /plexi box makes a  stout table turned on end.  Currently it is holding some bondo and paint supplies beside my Nissan pickup.  I don't know what I would do without these subs.  Those 400watt Pioneer IMPP's sure do look good in there filling in those holes.

15's can really produce great sound if you have enough power to push them.  If not then 12's are better.

I'm with Scott, the quality of the speaker matters more than the size.

That is true for any speaker.  Bottom line is, if you don't adequately power a speaker, it won't sound good.  Larger speakers are able to produce lower tones easier than smaller ones, that is the main difference.

I bought that MTX box from Summit with three 10''s, and amazingly it fit in the recess in the backside of the trunk. Granted I had to remove the rear deck speakers but it fit perfectly.
