Lhc

Large Hadron Collider.  It's basically a huge machine in a tunnel 16.5mi long, 100 meters under ground.  They hope to recreate the conditions just after the big bang this May. 

The safety concerns are that the micro black holes created during the process might not decay as rapid as they hope and it might consume the earth from within.
